Install gpx_patch & Set cpu to 0. Set GP3.exe to winXP SP2 compatibility. That might do it.

1. notebook?/cpu?/gcard?/RAM?/gconfig.txt (find it in GP3-dir), plz tell us!

2. turn off "antialiasing"/"waiting for vertical sync" in your gcard-driver

3. start the game with "GP3_2000.exe" once and let it do it´s "automatic-grafic-detection" (no worries if game crashes)

4. don´t forget inside game: OPTIONS->SOUND->Recalibrate!

1. Desktop/Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40Ghz/4GB Ram/[Software 3d] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series] good 128 1 8192 3 8192
[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series] testing 128 1 8192
(during the calibration it work at 1 fps i think -.- )
2. Done
3. Done
4. Done! =(

maybe try to trick it with gconfig.txt:

[Software 3d] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series] good 128 1 1280 3 1280
[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series] good 128 1 1280 3 1280

(if it works then writeprotect that file for future use)

you are using just the original game with gpxpatch, right?
(no mod, no gp3-2000?)

set gpxpatch also to windowsXPsp2 compatibility

maybe try if windowsXPsp3 or some other compatibility modes work

another try. go down to that:

[Software 3d] good 128 1 1024 3 1024
[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series] good 128 1 1024 3 1024
[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series] good 128 1 1024 3 1024

calibration always "no" from that point on your gcard was detected ->[ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series]

is your gcard an "onboard"?

..
again: if you edit your gconfig.txt then never let the game do a recalibration and always abort this at game-start. also when you are inside the game and setting the grafics then never press recalibration-button there! because this always edits the gconfig.txt

you can set your gconfig.txt to "writeprotected" to avoid changes...

-goto: ..gamedir/gpxpdata/gpxlap.ini and control this:
...
[RCR]
DistCockpit=3840
DistOnBoard=3840
DistChase=7680
DistTrack=7680
...

.................................................................................
-here on my system I ran "Parallels-Software" with win7(emulated) and GP3 for testing reasons: PO around 100% with 12fps

so, next points I would check if you have installed:

1. best chipset-drivers
2. best grafic-drivers
3. best sounddrivers

then I would shut down all progies/services that slow down the system

good luck!

................................................

+one way that always should work:

install original game and play it in SW-mode (you can choose this in the grafic-card-selection inside gp3: options->grafics)

...
-your comp uses onboard-gcard??

For my part, GP3 doesn't work with win7-64 on my AMD64bit comp. I got rid of it and installed a dual boot with XP. GP3 runs like a charm on it. You can solve your issue this way.

What pirx wants to know is if your graphic is the one of your motherboard or an added graphic card. In the first case you probably can run the game in software mode only. Not sure it can solve your issue either. :(
