That first post is blossoming, nice work. Can't think of any improvements to it as such. Interesting to see Ferrari(with Seb at least) looking quietly promising so far. And I'll admit I never expected McLaren to be that slow, although today at least they've started showing an improvement.by EC83 - F1

I've never been as disappointed by a McLaren as I was by that one. My enduring memory of that car is of Kimi blowing its arse off in Bahrain.by EC83 - F1
The B-spec 2002 Macca was meant to complete in just the opening races of 2003, but when the MP4-18 turned out to be a technical nightmare, plus the "interim" car was doing better than expected in the hands of Kimi, they eventually decided to stick with it for the whole season. And yeah, Super Aguri did do a pretty epic job, they don't get enough credit for it really. Alonso dby EC83 - F1
Super Aguri must have the record for the oldest chassis used in the modern era. The SA05(And SA06, really) was a stonker.by EC83 - F1
I'd still love to see it race, even if that's probably just the abstract artist in me. When was the last time a top team used a year-old car in the opening races? Think it was Ferrari 10 years ago IIRC.by EC83 - F1
Agreed, if that ZebraRedBull livery is only for testing it'll be a shame. I saw photos of it on Twitter first thing this morning, thought it looked brilliant. It would be a nice departure from the livery which they've essentially used since 2005, and which has become kinda boring IMO. RE the Macca livery, I'd prefer red and white to orange. And yeah, nice helmet design by Sebby EC83 - F1

It does look kinda lumpy, but at least it looks different with it. The only livery it vaguely reminds me of is the 1995 Benetton, purely becaby EC83 - F1
Nah, I think both the Merc and Ferrari noses look better now. I prefer the continuous smooth curves, even if the nose sticks out past the front wing. Last year they looked like they'd been sat on.by EC83 - F1
That Mercedes looks gorgeous. From the front at least, it reminds me of the McLaren MP4-13 and the subsequent beautiful designs of the late 90s/early 2000s which that car inspired. The Sauber looks refreshingly different. It's the first post-BMW livery they've had which hasn't struck me as too minimalist/too boring/both. The Ferrari is beautiful. I like what they've doneby EC83 - F1
Liking the look of the new Macca. Looks like the aero has been tidied up nicely, especially the nose which is incomparably better. Nice to see red back on it too, the plain black and silver was just dull.by EC83 - F1

You've lost me a bit there Jim. Anyways, I've found another one: "The race was stopped at two hours (six laps short of the intended race distance) and Ferrari ended the day with a 1-2, with Lauda scoring his first GP victory." Between mid-1972(possibly late 1973) and early 1974 then. Laton Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >by EC83 - F1
Thanks, that narrows it down to a 3-year window then. Learning as I go here, ha.by EC83 - F1
Thank you! After checking out that race, it seems the 2 hour rule was applied because only 63 laps were completed instead of the usual 69 or 70, and the race time was 2:01:25.2(Less than the time to do one complete lap after the two hours). Strangely, the Wiki page for this race doesn't mention it for some reason. After checking out all the earlier post-1972 wet races, there was no concby EC83 - F1

I'll probably come across as a n00b for asking this, but it's been bugging the hell out of me lately: (1) When did this become official? (2) When was the first time-limited race? There seems to be no official info available on this, which is both weird and annoying, considering what a fundamental rule it is. My guess would be sometime in 1972-1973, since the 1972 Monaco GP ranby EC83 - F1
I'm thinking Jean-Christophe Boullion, 1995.by EC83 - F1
From what I've seen of it, that 1972 Monaco GP was a real classic. Maybe because it was the last win for BRM, maybe because it was the last race before the two-hour rule came in(I think?) and it ended up running for 2 hours 30 minutes. But that race has always stood out to me as being a bit special. I've got to say I don't really know too much about him apart from that, but he dby EC83 - F1

I guess you guys are largely right really - it's all relative. We do need something done about the current circuits though.by EC83 - F1

V12s and V8s too. Brands Hatch to host the British GP for the foreseeable. Zandvoort. Pre-1982 Hockenheim. Pre-1986 Paul Ricard. Grade 2 and Grade 3(FIA) circuits made eligible to host F1 races. No more silly venue-swapping and a return to 2(or even more) races per country per year. Phoenix. Buenos Aires. Ridiculously soft tyres that degrade in a handful of laps even at Sochi. My personal classic favourite though, easily, if I follow my instincts: (Fairly recent pics, I think) I don't even know what it is about her. She's not the hottest overall by a long way, but I've always had a thing for her and it's never gone away. Everytime I watch a classic F1 race from 1998-1999ish, with the frequent cutaways to show her in the Macca garage,by EC83 - F1
After the statement about Sutil being single earlier in this thread, an appropriate choice to bump - Jennifer Becks: The main thing I'd miss if Sutil leaves F1. She's actually pretty damn hot.by EC83 - F1
Her name is Paola Ruiz Adame apparently, seems like she's a model. Maybe it's time to resurrect the old F1 wives/GFs thread.by EC83 - F1
Nice work there, cracking list of stats. Stats are an interesting and, IMO, important part of F1, I check out the Wikipedia page of various F1 records every so often and it's always a good read. Good idea to make this thread.by EC83 - F1
Gutierrez clearly does have some talent - I remember watching him in Formula BMW back in 2008 and thinking he might be a future F1 Champion, he was so dominant. He's just been relatively disappointing since he got into F1. Maybe Ferrari are thinking along the same lines and looking to nurture him in the reserve driver role.by EC83 - F1
