Button Criticises 'Pathetic' da Matta Sunday May 23rd, 2004 Briton Jenson Button accused Toyota's Cristiano da Matta of 'pathetic' driving on Sunday after struggling to lap the Brazilian at the Monaco Grand Prix. "I was really struggling with traffic," said the BAR driver, who finished second behind Renault's Italian Jarno Trulli. "I was saby Ellis - F1
da matta kept button behind for 3 1/2 @#$%& laps! not just 7 or 8 corners, but 3 @#$%& laps! may have cost jenson the win. Werent they racing for position? If so then hes entitiled to do so.by Ellis - F1
The only reason it is the person who is in front's fault, is if he was reversing. lmao Yeah, schumacher slams on the brakes to extent he LOCKS them, in a low visibility area, and then JPM MISS'S HIM and then Schumacher turns in on JPm Your right, its JPMs fault, what were we all thinking lmaoby Ellis - F1
No, we just think his driving standards are pathetic for what is ment to be a top class F1 driver.by Ellis - F1
Alonso was forced round the outside of Ralf, as Brunld eand Blundell pointed out. He had no choice. It was hit ralf or blast around him, the speed difference was too great at this point Fernando needs to clam down and relax, exactly like Trulli did in monaco. Let the speed come to him and not try desperatly to stranlge the car to find itby Ellis - F1
they won´t stop doing that till someone gets killed.... Tom Pryce hit a marshall at Kyalami. Both were killedby Ellis - F1
Why was Montoya so close to Schumacher? Because schumacher floored the throttle, and the rules say you must stay within 5 car lengths of another car (apparently). JPM was simply staying with schumacer, i guess he expected schumacher to simply lift off the throttle rather than slam on the brakes at possibly the worst point on the track Still the barely brake, and chose to go to the right...by Ellis - F1
the marshalls were terrible! I know we need them for racing, but god dam that was bad! The guy standing on the exit of a blind corner, in smoke, just off the racing line, and drops his flag :| And the one who didnt seem to know how a fire extinguisher worked, and Webber had to do it. :-\ Martin did point out that the marshalls were like cartoons today. Not the usuall high standard of marshaby Ellis - F1
Long time. They dont have the models finished Models aren no where close to finished, the Audi model sisnt even working in game, theres no textures or anything else yet. It'll be finished after the V8 mod is at earliestby Ellis - Off-Topic

Sporting Regulations Article 164 (j): When the clerk of the course calls in the safety car, it must extinguish its orange lights, this will be the signal to the drivers that it will be entering the pit lane at the end of that lap. At this point the first car in line behind the safety car may dictate the pace and, if necessary, fall more than five car lengths behind it. If the lights weby Ellis - F1
Exactly... but very good point jginete, like Blundell said, Schumacher was the pace setter at that point... the lights on the saftey car were apparently still on. Whilst the lights are on, P1 is not the pace setterby Ellis - F1
the race was nearly stopped he must have known, he must have either asked, or been told, as a racing driver you would expect to know whats happing around you, and what causes the stoppage, or saftey car What do you expect him to answer? "oh yeys i havent seen it, but its Definatly Fisi's fault!". Not the greatest answer from Kimi, but he hasnt seen the accident, he doesnt know iby Ellis - F1
Nobody has said Schumachers incompetent. An accusation such as a 6 time world champion is totally imcompetent is just hillarious Nobody is saying that if you actaully read it. Whats being said is, Schumacher made a mistake. he chose a stupid place to brake test, and locked his wheels (2 mistakes) and he caused the accident. Nobody has mentioned incompetence with Schumacher, but it has been saiby Ellis - F1
ROFL, even if McLaren told Kimi about the crash, by the time he got to the paddock to be interviewed he still hadnt seen it. What do you expect him to do? all he knows is theres been an accident that triggered the SC. By the time they all got around again, the Sauber was on its wheels and being moved, so he probably doesnt even know the car has rolled, and ten he gets interviewed before hes seenby Ellis - F1
Its true what they say though... If the situatrion would have been the other way round, they would kick up so much fuss with "MS should be more careful..." but because its was MS who got taken out, it was all MS' fault... ROFL. If Jaun had braked in the tunnel i guess all the Schumacher fans would have called him and imcompetent rookie, and had a go at his driving standards yetby Ellis - F1

Race stewards have declined to take any further action following the controversial collision between Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya in the tunnel during a safety car period in the Monaco Grand Prix. The crash occurred when Schumacher was warming his brakes, and his sudden deceleration appeared to catch out the following Montoya, who was a lap down. Despite taking evasive action, Monby Ellis - F1
and also know he didnt swerve to the right as montoya was coming it was the way he braked that caused him to go to the right hand side. He was well off the brakes by the time the impact of the two cars happened. Its also unusuall to lock the outside wheel, thats the loaded wheel.by Ellis - F1
Who is in a place to point the finger at any one of them? OK, it was perhaps a display of inexperience by Alonso to go for the outside line in the tunnel. But he had little choice other than to slow behind Ralf and lose any chance of victory. MArtin Brundle and Mark Blundell are in a pretty good spot, and both of them have laid the blame firmly at Ralfs door. Ralf slowed and gave Alonso ZEROby Ellis - F1
i have the same love for F1 that frank, ron, eddie, flavio etc etc have hehe So do many of us, but we dont all feel the need to brown nose ourselfs (thats not a direct comment at you, but at fan boys in general)by Ellis - F1
Brundle is excellent. Jardine and Blundel are good too. James is a good pit reporter, not commentator. Put him back in the pit lane, where he can do what hes good at, and maybe Ben Edwards in with Martin It has been said, "Oceans Thirteen" is already in production, about how a diamond goes missing off the front on an expensive race car in an exotic locationby Ellis - F1
Perhaps an onboard shot from one car or the other will shed light on the situation. there is no onboard shots because they used a helicopter and not track side pickup points for the onboard signals, and a helicopter cant see through the tunnel (notice how we cut away from onboard on the full laps?) The cameras showed enough for me. Michael locked his brakes were visiblity is low, then whenby Ellis - F1
schuey seemed to brake and 'chop' jpm Yes! that to me is more worrying than the brake test! He turned in on JPMs car!by Ellis - F1
Alonso had no choice. The speed difference was so great, even if he slammed on the brakes he would have slapped the back of Ralf. Ralf either got out of the throttle, or the tech problems he had, caused him to slow, and Alonso took avoiding action round the outsideby Ellis - F1
I can't really undertand why he tried to pass between MS and the "wall" under the SC. ROFL, he didnt. He tried to avoid MS. It was either go around him, or go into the back of him. He chose to go around him for obvious reasons, then the gap he was aiming for to avoid him suddenly disappeared as michael made his way towards the barriers. I cant recall, EVER any driver brakingby Ellis - F1
