Great screenshots again car is looking really good, I don't know if anyone agrees but the black on the nose of the car might be a little too black (if that's possible!!!!) - I just thought the real car nose is maybe a bit more of a really dark grey - it might be just the screenshots making it look that way, I'm not sureby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Mercedes car looks great in the screens shown so far, did notice that a couple of the e-post brief logos on the top of the sidepods were missing, will they be added before release if not already added?by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
The fact that I can play GP4 with realistic cars from 2010 or learn how to make my own livery etc - and tracks from 2008/2009 (even with 2010 ads!!!) when it was released 8 or 9 years ago says a lot about the quality of the original game and the incredible cars, tracks, graphics etc created by a lot of talented and generous people free of charge on this site and others. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to what the computer car set-ups should be for the new tracks in gp4 - i.e. gear ratios and wing settings. I've got the cc editor and would like an idea what the settings should be for Bahrain, China, Turkey, Valencia, Abu Dhabi and Singapore - any help would be appreciatedby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Maybe it depends on which game_snd.bnk file you update, I know I've tried updating 2 different game_snd.bnk files with the 2010 Mclaren files and the engine sounds nothing like as good as the demo on these pages hope someone can help with a game_snd.bnk file which sounds the way it's supposed toby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I'm using these gp4tweaker settings for the Mclaren rear wheels - you could give them a try - right rear 0.7300 -0.2200 -1.7900 left rear -0.7300 -0.2200 -1.7900by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
If the track wads don't contain any "garage" tex files, they may have the older style "pitbox" files which should be numbered 1-4 for each team - you just need to check the order of your teams and match them to the order in the wad files so if you have Lotus as team 7, then all the team7 pitbox files would need to be updated with the lotus garage filesby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Tried downloading it twice - files still won't open in the 2 programmes I tried - each file is 5.31mb in size - that's the size of a car tex file! - most helmet files are 1.32mb - maybe that's causing the problemby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Downloaded the helmet but can't open files with gp4master or texresizer - files are unusually large but why will they not open with these programmes? - also crashed my game when I tried to use the helmetby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
No problem, I think with Valencia being a new circuit, there hasn't been a really good version released yet with all the correct textures and a fixed dat file where the cars don't disappear - hopefully we may get one soonby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
You can try this 2009 version and see if this is the right track to update - I've tried a couple of versions and I think this is the one I'm using at the momentby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Thanks again Excalibur - I appreciate the detailed instructions - front wing is raised (Redbull front wing is no longer nearly touching the track!) and all textures are showing in-game. Wouldn't have known where to start without your help - and your English is fine - it's much appreciatedby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
hi Excalibur I've worked out why the tga files weren't being assigned to the lods - photoshop adds a 1 to the tga file when you save from a tex file so the tga files were named incorrectly. Thanks for all your help with the car shape, - much appreciatedby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Excalibur, I really appreciate the time you,ve taken to help me with zmodeler and adjusting a cars front wing - however I still can't work out how to get the tga files to link with the lods. At what stage in the process do you need to assign the tga files? I have put the tga files and tex files in the same folder as the car lods but when I try to open the modified lods in zmodeler, I get anby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
thanks for the step by step, I've managed to raise the wing, - sorry to have to ask for more help but how do I link the tex files from the original car to my modified one as there is no livery on the new car in-game, - what am I doing wrong?by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
A question for the great car makers this game has, - I'd like to alter a carshape by raising the front wing slightly, can anyone tell me what programme/programmes I would need (along with the car LOD files) to do this and how easy or complicated it is, - could anyone give me a few pointers as to where to begin because I'd like to learn but haven't much of an idea at the momentby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
thanks Earth for the DHL logo - much appreciatedby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Does anyone have the new DHL e postbrief logo seen on the Mercedes car at Hockenheim? - can't find it so farby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I think you'll have to either switch your cars around in your cars.wad to match the garages or extract the garage files and driver names files from the track wads and make sure the names on the garage walls and the names above the garages match up with the order of your cars and drivers. I keep my teams in the same order as much as possible and keep a set of garage files in the same order toby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
I think you are probably using the best version of the virgin car so far - with Axel's, - other versions seem to have a few things that need work on. the Lotus mentioned in this post is also probably the best one although again Axel's version is really good also. I think the only 2010 Force India car is available on this site but it does have the see-through exhaust problem.by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Any chance you could add the Benetton B195 to your list? - my favourite of the Schumacher Benettons, hope you can, thanksby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
glad I'm not the only one who noticed a problem with the front wheel hubs, I thought it was just the wheel position which needed changing with gp4tweaker but obviously notby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Great Mclaren 2010 car - does anyone know the wheel settings in gp4tweaker?by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Does anyone know if there is a version of Monaco with the new layout where it's a bit easier to get through Sainte Devote ( if you touch the kerb on the right you spin almost every time) and the Nouvelle chicane after the tunnel (it's really difficult not to hit the barrier on the left turn with either your front or rear wheel) - the old layout tracks didn't seem to have these probby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
tried updating the dat file I use for the Valencia track - with the new cameras - it reduces the number of cameras from 20 to 14 but the cars still disappear at the end of the start finish straight - is there anything else that needs to be done?by neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
great Canada update for 2010 - I did notice though that the garages and pitwalls don't show up in the game with 2010 teams -even if you change the order to match your carwad and update the garage tex files and the plusmuppet/pluspitstand tex files, they don't show up in game even though the .wad file has the correct files - is there something missing in the gp4 file or is it something eby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
If you find some new track maps to download ( I haven't changed mine but I'm sure most of the gp4 sites will have some), you can use gpi browser (again this can be downloaded from most gp4 sites) to update the track map graphics, --- glad I could help with the track namesby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
If you go into your gp4 folder, then into menu data, then pc, then gp2001 folder, - open the gp2001 English gps file, using notepad - then scroll down to the section with the track names and edit the names (use lower case and keep the spacing and everything exactly the same) - save the file and the new names will show in the track selection menu. Hope this is what you meanby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
sorry to have to ask again but if the Marlboro tex file is assigned to 2 areas of the track (bridge leading down to Mirabau and over the tunnel entrance) surely if I change the name of the tex file, it will still show the same advertisement at both places - I want to show a different advert on one of the boards - how would I assign monaco page 214 tex to the bridge currently using the Marlboro teby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
Hope someone can help with this query - (I'm gradually learning how to use gp4 builder but I don't know enough yet) - If a texture is assigned to two different advertising boards on a track, is there a way to change this so that a different tex file can be assigned to each board? My example is a Monaco track I'm using which has a Marlboro.tex file which shows up twice on the circuiby neilcaine - Grand Prix 4
