Forgot to say. In the second half of this year DDR ram will be changing, but the RAM industry is one of the slower ones to adopt change, so whether you get a lot and then wait for a while to upgrade again or whether you get enough and then upgrade when the technology arrives is up to you. Unless you do serious video editing get 1 gig of corsair or kingston ram. The low latency twin packs are a good idea. 2x512mb of PC 3200 2-2-2-5 Corsair would be more than enough for gaming. As I say, if you do video editing then it's a different story. Bazby bazza - Off-Topic
I'd say that is an ideal card in that range. To be honest nVidia's latest budget offerings have not been up to scratch. One of my mates got a FX5600 under warranty after his Ti4600 overheated, and he phoned the company, complained about poor image quality, and they sent him a 9600pro, which he is very happy with. Again. For older games (meaning directx 8 rather than dx9) something likeby bazza - Off-Topic
Very similar. Check out hardware sites and you will see that it's a close fight. I'd say the Ati, because I have one, and because you get HL2 free with it, as soon as it is released.by bazza - Off-Topic
My first f1 game was vroom 2 for the atari, but I'd got hooked on racing 'sims' with lotus espirit turbo challenge for my atari 1040steby bazza - F1
OK, so some people had problems with nr2003 and GPL with the cat3.8 drivers apparently (not me :D) so here's an extract from a site i visit with links to the new cat4.1 drivers New ATI Drivers: Available now on ATI's website is CATALYST 4.1. This release updates the graphics driver to version 7.97. The focus of this release is stability. I recommend this upgrade to all users to improby bazza - Off-Topic
I have no idea how good these are, 9200se is worse than 9200, that's about all i know. go with sapphire over pc chips and 128mb over 64mb i would say. (i'm biased, i have a sapphire, but it has been problem free)by bazza - Off-Topic
GT4 and MOH:PA are the ones 'll be playingby bazza - Off-Topic
I'd say get an ati but then I'm biased as I have an 9800 from them. Tell you what though. The GeForce4 Ti4600 is still one of the best gfx cards out for any games bar the newest generation of dx9 games.by bazza - Off-Topic
it's on a 100mbit, but like i say, it would need installed, and the company don't have the game. i dunno if they would let me upload whatever the server would need to run dedicated Bazby bazza - Off-Topic
My clan has a dedicated gaming rig for spearhead. I could find out if they could install nascar2003 onto it, and how much for. At the moment we run 3 servers for Spearhead off it, 2 being public, but there is plenty more room for a nascar2003 server. I have remote desktop access to it already, so it could be set up easily if it is installed. Bazby bazza - Off-Topic

Fiat's are quite ****, but you get what you pay for. We got a 51plate Punto 1.2 new at the time for under £6000, how can you moan about a car that costs so little new (compared to most other cars) The car is nippy enough. I fit in it easily, as does my mum (I'm 6ft2, she's about 5ft4). No problems with it in 2 years, except it's been scratched by people who are **** at parkingby bazza - Off-Topic
He's right you know. Upload speed is what matters, it takes about 22k to host one person, therefore with my 128k upload speed I could host 5, or 6 at a push. Surely someone has better? Bazby bazza - Off-Topic

OK, so I know a lot of us have Nascar2003, but what mods does everyone have? I got TPTCC, but the servers are rarely busy, any others recommended? I'm currently downloading the pwf truck mod. Once I get a wheel maybe my times can drop as my best at Watkins with TPTCCv2.1 is only a 1.11.6**. Bazby bazza - Off-Topic
What make is the PSU? The better the make the more stable it is even if it has a lower max watts rating Bazby bazza - Off-Topic
Get a Barton 2500+. I got one for about £60 and it runs fine at 2.2ghz (200fsb,11x) which is the same as the 3200+ Barton, same L2 chache and everything. Plus if it fries after a while of OC running then you can get another one, and you still won't have spent as much as the 3200+ (i have had mine running at 2.2ghz for 5/6 months with no problems). The best way to know what to do is start reading hardware sites, and visting forums. I didn't have a clue about anything until about two years ago when I started reading articles and reviews, now I'm studying them at uni! As qwerty said, nobody is too sure where amd64 will lead, and even then, the money you pay is for the new technology. I have a system which a lot of people would lookby bazza - Off-Topic
I'm for overclocking too. My xp2500+ runs absolutely fine at xp3200+ speeds. I've not overclocked my radeon 9800 though, because I have no need with the games I play. Call of Duty I get a minimum of 200fps, Spearhead I get a minimum of 150, nr2003 with tptcc 2.1 runs at 40fps at the start and then from 50-70 on gotzenburg-ring. All with max-details :Dby bazza - Off-Topic
I have a Radeon 9800 128mb, a similar oen to this: Or if £202 is a bit much, then the one Ian mentioned is well worth it. This one comes with the Half-life 2 voucher. Retail Lite versions do not. Bazby bazza - Off-Topic
There's a jap import garage just down the road from me, actually it would be nearer where Lanky lives (I think). There was some guy talking about it on the train coz he works there. The guy was a total ned and talked about driving these brand new Imprezas, Skylines, RX-8s, Evo8s and other stuff. So unfairby bazza - Off-Topic

@villej you need to save a copy of your car as a bmp or tga. this must be named 'card' and put in the folder where the original 'card.bmp' is. i.e the folder with the carshape .x files Bazby bazza - Off-Topic

I dunno, 256 should be enough, i've got 512 and it's enough for gaming. if i ever need to play battlefield 1942 then i'll upgrade to 1gig, i probably will anyway. For video editing at least a gig is desirable, but i doubt there would be considerale increase for GP4 anyway, because it is quite badly coded. Bazby bazza - Grand Prix 4
