Alright, thanks! Too bad the slipstream tool is yet unfinished. GP4 is very much like the present-day F1, with a lot of overtaking and a lot of tyre wear, so in fact it was well ahead of its time. But I like the early 2000 F1 more. Does anyone know how to "complete" GP4Tweaker?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
The slipstream patch doesn't seem to work with my computer, even though everything seems fine: [ ] Patching successfull [ ] Patching successfull [ ] Patching successfull [ ] Patching successfull [ ] Patching successfull Still the AI overtake like they are participating in a Moto GP race. Thanks! I think it works, although the slipstream effect is a little weird: cars are not struggling in dirty air, in fact they love it. Is the slipstream tool only drag-related and not grip-related?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
GP4 and GP4Tweaker are running fine on my laptop. The only thing is: I cannot download the newest GP4Tweaker version because my anti-virus program keeps telling me that it is a Trojan horse/Trojan downloader. Should I simply "recover" and run the program?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Sounds interesting, but as I'm using CMagic, it's still difficult for me to translate TSM language into CMagic language. In CMagic we have these parameters (number and description): 50 "tyre wear" or "Player tyre wear", usually some high (>10,000) value, must be Tyre Wear in TSM 72 "cc shuffler" or "AI shuffler", somewhere between 2500 andby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
In the Magic Data Tutorial there are four tyre parameters: Tyre Wear - 14012 AI Race Performance - 2718 AI Race Grip - 256 AI Tyres - 9373 AI Race Grip is always 256, AI Race Performance is probably the variable I know as cc shuffler, or overall tyre wear. I guess Tyre Wear is the "player" tyre wear, or some tyre wear adjustment, but then I don't know what the AI Tyres parby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Alright... AI Tyres = cc shuffler, but then what exactly is AI Race Performance in the magic data?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Please clarify this: isn't cc shuffler in the magic data the same thing as AI Race Performance in TSM?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
QuoteAtticus. What I found to be very annyoing is that red line, which goes flat at a CC shuffler value of around 3000-3500. This practically means that it is very hard to realistically induce a heavy tyre wear effect into the game. A lap time deg of about 1.5 sec is the maximum we could achieve. The tyre-degradation limit is probably way higher than you think, as the cars should get faster duby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Trying to simulate different eras is a difficult yet rewarding activity. One has to be creative to find the best approximation; things like the two-compound rule or refueling ban are impossible to simulate. For the modern era scaling down the fuel and fuel consumption parameters is a good first step. Probably the tyre wear values (cc shuffler typically around 3000-4000) in GP4 are close to the poby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Changing CPU to zero seems to help: the game hasn't crashed since then. Thanks!by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4

Hi all, I thought you might be interested in some testing data. Unfortunately, GP4 won't run on my old computer, but the good news is that it runs reasonably well on my laptop. Even CMagic seems to work, so I decided to give it a go. Today I reduced the CC shuffler value and then I watched how the race progressed. My test track was Spa-Francorchamps, because this is the easiest track tby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Hi everyone, As GP4 suddenly did not start up on my old computer, I've tried to re-install the game in order to solve this problem, but to no avail. Below is an error log from the earlier install (with GPxPatch), which might provide some information. That's sophisticated! But does CSM allow us to edit the original game-data? If yes, that would be great! (My main target is to edit the "magic data" first and only then I might be interested in another carset.)by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Thanks! This topic was confusing me. About my second question: can CSM edit the original track files? I think the 2001 season is alright, so I would like to start editing the original game.by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Two questions: does CSM need the decrypted exe or the normal exe? Can I use the original game carset with CSM, or do I need to download another carset?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
I know GP4Tweaker can change refueling time. But is the refueling speed constant for all tracks (for example 300 ms per fuel lap)? Then pitstops should be significantly faster at the longest tracks (like Spa-Francorchamps and the old Hockenheimring), which is not very realistic.by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
One question: is the pit refueling rate (ms per lap of fuel or quantity per second) somewhere in the magic data?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Very nice indeed, but what exactly do these variables mean? QuoteAtticus. 6 ; PIT DATA 6 ; PIT DATA 256 ; AI RACE GRIP 20000 ; A1 TYRES 136 ; MAYBE PLAYER RELATED The pit data is 6 for all tracks. A1 (AI?) tyres is as low as 7000 for Monaco, but as high as 20000 for Australia and Europe. The player-related part is probably somewhat correlated to this value, but still I fail to see a patby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
QuoteTomMK Ok that's understood. The current V8s are supposed to require approximately 160kg of fuel for a race so if that constant of 2979 is close to being correct then the original magic data still applies pretty well to the reality of modern 2013 F1. Probably today's lack of refueling (which would cause higher fuel consumption) is offset by the more fuel-efficient V8s, which causesby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
QuoteWhere does that value of 2979 come from? It was written in another topic. QuoteSupersonic "fuel???" is given in "kg*2979". QuoteDoesn't seem right (although as you say the original 2001 Magic Data is not perfect). Shouldn't cars use more fuel at faster circuits due to the higher RPM? So the total race fuel mass should be greatest at Hockenheim, Spa and Mby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Fuel value in the magic data divided by 2979 times number of laps. For example: Hockenheim - Fuel = 9205 = 3.09 kg per lap, so 3.09 x 45 laps = 139 kg per race. A1 Ring (or Red Bull Ring) - Fuel = 6849 = 2.30 kg per lap, so 2.30 x 71 laps = 163 kg per race. In general, fuel consumption is lower for high-speed tracks, which is quite intuitive I think. However, the fuel-consumption parameteby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
If you select all 22 drivers, there will be no tire wear (at least when the computer is controlling "your" car, which is most of the time). In order to have realistic strategies, tire wear and fuel consumption should also be realistic. Indeed, the original game simulates the Pirelli tire wear well. The graphs are right (only "speed" should be "laptime" and this shoby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
That is interesting, but does this imply that the player's car is less susceptible to tire wear in this situation? Does it change if you increase "tire wear" in the magic data? My findings are: In the original game cc shuffler is highest for tracks mostly consisting of low-speed corners, like Monaco, Canada and Italy, while the value is lower for tracks like Belgium, Japan, Greby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for the elaborate experiment on magic-data values! I think it is very interesting, although I do have some remarks: 1) As far as I know GP4 always adds an error term to the race performance, so there may still be some "noise" in the data. 2) We now know that cc shuffler influences the (AI) tire wear, but it would be useful to see whether or not it influences the "fuel efby TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Still no good news. The game is slow and crashes a lot. Still I cannot edit any game data. It is very frustrating. I think these problems are related to Windows 7, as the game runs fine on my old computer. I cannot find out why GP4 is so inaccessible. Changing the compatibility mode of GP4 and related programs does not seem to make any difference.by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for the support! Unfortunately, I cannot unzip the GP4Tweaker folder and CSM is "unable to retrieve list". I just don't know why - I even tried to run GP4 as administrator, but nothing seems to help.by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
The GP4Tweaker download has failed. My computer claims it has detected a virus. Probably GP4Tweaker looks like some kind of virus, but I guess the download itself is harmless. Or maybe not? Anyway, how could I download the program without putting my computer at risk?by TheFueleffect - Grand Prix 4
