Eh, just glad to have not wasted a boost.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France: A good result for not boosting I think. Hopefully the race will see us maintain or improve on our position.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4

Sorry, yes, the Alpha channel. Yeah, I see what you mean about the sidepod; if you look closely enough, you can follow that 'seam' quite a way along the sidepod towards the front, though your light placement hides it after a while. I'm not a modelling expert, but I believe that is the 'smoothing group' issue that I spoke about. The side of the pod's group has becomby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Nice improvement Tob. I don't know much about the rendering process in Blender, but one thing I would try is to look for a way to control the specularity with a texture map. In Keyshot, for example, specularity is controlled with a greyscale texture file, in exactly the same way as GP4. This might help with your reflection issues. I'd also suggest using a texture without the shadiby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
A great result for the team, considering our results in qualifying. (Though the very high attrition rate helped us here) A brilliant drive from Aidan.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Sorry to the team for the lacklustre performance. It's my own fault that I am where I am at the moment, and I hope to do better moving forward.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Greg. Ruben is correct, I do use Keyshot for my renders.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Very nice Iain. Good choice to jump to nVidia sponsorship after the less than overwhelming launch of the Vega cards! A new skin for the RaceSimStudio 'Formula RSS 4' cars. The level of detail these guys put into their models is simply astonishing - you can see this in the wheel reflection on the side of the nose - and makes for utterly fantastic renders. In case anyone has use for it, I now have a subscription for VectorMagic. The results vary from logo to logo - it has lots of trouble with greyscale shading (on, for example, the Renault and Honda badges) - but it works fairly well in most cases. Not as good as a hand-drawn vector by someone who knows what they're doing of course, but it certainly passes for most uses. But you need a subscby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Damn it, sorry boss. I thought that my last post - at the end of the last race event - would have been enough to tide me over until something actually happened worth commenting on. Oh well.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France: Obviously for us the most important thing is that Romain is okay after his accident. It was of course disappointing to go out like that so early - especially when everyone else's troubles means we might have a had a chance at a decent result - but this weekend was always going to be about damage limitation for us.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
It's not perfect, but it's all I've got. I took this image: And replaced the font colour with the Red from the current Esso logo.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Thanks mate, no problem with that at all.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
A bittersweet race for the team here I think. The qualifying session showed that I had some good pace against the other cars in equal conditions, and this came through again early in the race. The incident with Aidan was unfortunate, as without that I think I had the pace to challenge for the podium, but he of course was doing his job as a racing driver there so no hard feelings. Also unfortunby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France's decision not to boost will for sure put some more pressure on our driver, as he will be racing a large number of much faster cars, but we're hopeful that this will give us more strategy options as the season unfolds.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
All things considered, a great result for the team. With Aidan well entrenched in the top 10, and myself being at the front of the group who had no chance due to the weather, it appears that the car has some good pace this weekend.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
@Excalibur: Wow, what a contrast between your current PC and the one you had when you first started this thread! I love threads like these. Does a different version of the track solve the issue?by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
A weekend to forget for us I think, made all the more damaging by the success that was the last event. But we can't dwell too much on it, and can only learn from it and go forward.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
A disappointing session for sure, and I'm sure the boss is none too impressed with either of our results.....though it must be noted that I out-qualified my teammate again.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France - Post-race For sure it's disappointing to finish where we did after our qualifying performance, but we're confident that it was a car issue unique to this particular event that won't occur again. So heads down now, and onward to the next race.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France - Mid-race update It's been disappointing certainly so far, and we're fairly certain at this point that is most certainly a case of the driver extracting the maximum from the car, just being let down by the package he's been given. We're still hopeful to salvage something here - in total terms, we're not that far outside a top ten; there just happens to beby AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Team France A very good result in qualifying today for sure, and we are of course hoping that this will convert to a good result in the race. This circuit does have some good overtaking opportunities - the long back straight will be our major weakness here - but the first two thirds of the track should see track position win out.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
Not an awful race. Some positions gained at least. About what was expected without any boost.by AUS_Doug - Grand Prix 4
