Nothing can be achieved thru modifying performance files, unless we make them very unrealisitic. Anything else we might try? I myself am out of ideas...by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
As beautiful as they look, the cars really are too slow! I tried all sorts of different set-ups, without much difference, the cars are just too slow. What can be done about it?by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
What you did here is huge man, absolutely huge! We should be thanking you for it, not the other way around! So, once again, thanks man!by Kaps - Grand Prix 4

Planned on asking you 'bout this, but kept forgeting it. Among some new cars, do you by any chance mean Toleman?by Kaps - Grand Prix 4

I've only installed GP4 'cos of this fabulous mod! Unfortunately, I don't use MSN, but feel free to pm me!by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Just delete the whole minimum veersion line. It worked for me!by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Thanks quickslick! Finally it all clicked together and only now am I able to fully appreciate the greatness of this mod! Pedro, really outstanding, amazing job! It's really too bad that there are no appropriate tracks for this fantastic mod. Thanks a million Pedro, and also Damon & quickslick, for enabling me to enjoy this to the full!by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Ok, it would seem I'm just too stupid for this! I was tampering with this thing trying to get the track-specifics working and ended up with nothing working! This is what Pedro has in his readme: * Installation * 1. Install GP4 original game 2. Install the official 9.6 patch 3. Install the decrypted 1.02 gp4.exe 4. Install GPxPatch 3.93 5. Install "Zaz Tools" - inclby Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Thanks Damon, but when I click on Mod's configurables, it's nothing there. Everything's empty. Do I have to sort the tracks in the GPxPatch first?by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Hmm, another problem. I don't get any of the track-specific liveries, or models. The cars are the same on all tracks?by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Oh, the problem was that I downloaded outdated ZaZ Tool, when I updated it everything went well Pedro, did you check your PM?by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Anyone!?by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
Hmm, I must be doing something wrong...default cars keep showing in game. It's been a while since I played this, so can anyone please explain how do I install these, step by step if possible? I have all the pathches, Zaz etc...installed.by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
This is incredible! I'm gonna reinstall the GP4 after all these years just because of this! Fantastic!! Thanks Pedro!by Kaps - Grand Prix 4
I've just got the mail from a man from Hockenheim's official site, saying that the top speed reached during the 1980 Grand Prix was 291 kph. We were not wide off the mark, were we?by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
I've switched my testing to Buenos Aires and with too low values in the performance file I'm 6 secs off the pole in qualifying, and only 2 secs off the fastest lap in race. And there's still some room for experimenting. I just might be getting there afterall! Jacki, what do you reckon the values should be in the perf. files for Pole winner and for race winner. I usually have arby Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Ok, here's the latest development. I've tested a bit on old Osterreichring. Track grip was at 16654, air resistance at 16685. The car was as follows: Dforce coeff. at 1902.41, Df/drag ratio at 5.52, mass at 674 kg and the set-up: wings at 5, 1st gear at 24, 2nd at 32, 3rd at 39, 4th at 45, 5th at 50 (6th at 51). I've managed top speed of 281 kph and the car generally felt ok andby Kaps - Grand Prix 3
I'm still tweaking this here and there, but I'm not at all happy with the results so far. Jacki, I'll check the air resistence figures in my tracks now. Hopefully that'll help, but the problem is that only with DF/drag ratio of 5.5 I've managed to get accurate laptimes. Still working on this... b-tone could you possibly send your 1979 physics? It should be pretty muchby Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Hmmm,it's not really working so far...the cars seem to be way to slow, and if I put a downforce/drag ratio anywhere near 1.5 I can't even reach 3rd gear! And surely track grip shuold be more than 15500? Almost all the custom made MD's have that value between 16200 and 16900.by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Just one more thing. I can't make 5th & 6th gear ratio the same. If I put 5th on, say, 51, the 6th must be at 52. Is there a way to make them both the same? I mean for my car, for the AI I can make it the same.by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Oh, so many new reference points and good tips! It would take a month for me to try everything out! Thank you so very much, Jacki!by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Ok, it's half-time so here's the file I've been using in GP3-2000 for 1980 season so far. I believe it can be bettered. Chassis/general Downforce coeff. 1902.41 Downforce/drag ratio 5.52 Mass 580 X-axis rotation inertia 670 Y-axis rotation inertia 716 Z-axis rotation inertia 111 Front track 1765 Rear track 1610 Wheelbasby Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Oh and another thing. According to P. Menard's Encyclopedia of F1, 1980 Cosworths were only at about 480bhp. Some other sources have the same. And Renault (the only turbo of the season) was at 510, as well as the Alfa Romeo, and Ferrari at 500 bhp.by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Hey, Jacki, excellent data, but I would need some help in creating this physics file. Now I'm off to watch the Portugal-Croatia football match, but I could send you my 1980 Cosworth (as I named it) physics file in the half-time, so you could see what I did wrong and maybe correct it? I'm sure that downforce coeff. & drag coeff are wrong, but just couldn't find any reference poby Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Ok then, 295 kph it is (will be). Now I only have to make cars not going faster than that...now that will not be easy to achieve.by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Yes, I believe that the construction of cars was so different in 1970 and the cars were much lighter so it's perfectly possible that the top speeds were roughly the same throughout that period. As for ground effect, like St. Hubbins said, it was banned only after the end of 1982 season and my guess as well would be that that didn't affect top speeds that much. So based on everythby Kaps - Grand Prix 3
Well, I'm into historic racing, so wouldn't really know about the Red Bull pitcrew, sorry. But I do have a question (as if you doubted it!) about pitcrews. Is there any way to use jackman and copy sponsor logos and textures of his overalls over to the 6 pitcrew jams, but so that they fit, or do I have to do them manually, 1 by 1?by Kaps - Grand Prix 3
