Well...finally a good thread. I perfectly agree with Mini Maestro and Guimengo. I think that original Gp4 cars were probably poor in definition; furthermore, they had also 512 textures as Hi textures. But, nowadays, the trend of a lot a carshapers and carpainters is to make Hi polys cars ( with only LOD 0 !!! ), with "mega" ( 2048 ) textures...This is a crazy way to kill GP4. I think tby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Yes, of course, CPU car drivers are faster on Ace level becouse they have more grip factor and more power factor....try to compare laptimes between Rookie and Ace level. This is the important aspect of GP4 that allows to human player the choice among a sort of arcade way ( hot seat modality in default GP4 ), and progressive easy levels from Ace to Rookie. In fact, physics file is always the samby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Regarding the difficulty on driving in all the GP4 levels, You can find in each magic file for each track the strings You above reported. But, note, please: the "power" factor is the percentage of car power bhp for ALL drivers ( including therefore human one ) for THAT track ( assuming that in GP4 100% of car power is 500 ). Therefore, You can increae this factor to make lower the lapby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
In magic data, tyre wear change ONLY human one...as also bump factors. Therefore, You have to change these factors balancing well, in order to avoid to too difficult trend for humans ( if You increase bump factors, or decrease the value for the tyre wear...and the contrary, of course ). Regarding tyre wear, the string in magic file is the 50th. Pay attention: increasing this value, only human plby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Regarding the Ferrari Hungary set: In Hungary Ferrari version there were also grills on the left sidepod, with a cockpit fissure and 1 only antenna. Just be precise...But Enzo's ( and BMW fan's....always missed! )is really great.by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Hello, Buzz, my friend. Everything it's good, thanks. I was hoping to offer to GP4 community some "red" 2005 new car...but I saw that EnzoJ was first in this. My car is ready from April, with all versions ( and all lods!!!! ), from the Imola version to Budapest. But now, the texture work has to be finished. Ciaoby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
On this site...of course. Performances ( 2004, specific and generic ) were included in 2004 carset by Erik van Leeuwen, and also published as 2004 perf pack alone by Erik. Try on Download section.by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Yes, mate: unfortunatelly, this is one of the most relevant limit of GP4. Physics file is unique, for all cars, although there are some substantial differences for human and A1 drivers. Now, You can easily understand that the best thing for Gp4 is a right, and realistic, compromise in physic data. I think that physics file included in 2004 Erik's set is one of the best physics I ever made.by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Sometimes I wonder there are still some people asking these questions...anyway: if You use 2004 performances, everything it's Ok. 2004 Performances I made for Erik's carset, in my opinion, are perfect in physics and data...and of course rflect the 2004 season. I never made 2005 performances. regarding your question: 18100 is the max value of rpm for the physics file included in these 2by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
@Button14: that idea ( I mean, a sort of more realistic damage model on the nosecone ) is not really new...Several people, in the past, tested this idea ( in Mods, or separatelly ). I never published any file, however, becouse basically You then have a "pit problem": if You have to change the front wings, for example, mechanics will change a front wing with attached a piece of noseconby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Probably, You were using a too soft tyre, or there was a lot of track grip..to reduce tyres in that way!!!! No...joking apart: this is a well know GP4 bug, not fixed by patch 9,6 (..in my patched GP4 is still present ), that You may see in some tracks, specially Indy, where banking is evident with too deep tyres on grass, or flying tyres on track. In your screen, the mirror tyre You see maybe iby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
I tested my files....performances files included in Erik's carset 2004: You said having fuel troubles for "everyone" ( all drivers? human and CPU? ). At ace level, 100 race lenght...no one car had a fuel problem, in Nurburgring. 67 laps ( remember that in GP4 Nurburgring is still the old track ). Only 3 retirements for mechanical failures. And also in other tracks, everything iby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Coming back to the question: what's really the fuel problem? I never heard 'till now a fuel problem in Erik's carset. Are You speacking about human fuel consumption? And, in which track? Have You managed yourself the physic file, or some other option ( for example in tweaker? ). before to send performances to Erik, I've tested all races, having no fuel problems....by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for Your appreciation, mate. I can replay to your questions: 1) Dat files ( Track files, without the graphic wad files ) are a simpler way to update a lot of physical data in tracks, instead to use magic files, through the magic editor, as in my previous performances packs. Therefore, new Dat files ( that are anyway based on the original track files, and so on those by Lampert ) are notby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Yes, sure. I agree with Erik and Enzo: 2048 texture should be the final killar of CPU. Please, don't be exagerated with these huge textures...!!!!by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
The best explanation is like wrote Oggo. I have Photoshop 7...and this is the way. For example: open your file ( a tga....You can choose "Open as" ). When You see the file, in the horizzontal main menù, click on Image ( the first voice is File; the second Edit; the third...Image ). You will see a new column menù, in which there are several options. Choose Rotate Canvas. Then, Youby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
The nose of Ferrari F 2005 Bahrain is exactly ( as shape from above ) as F 2004. Laterally, the tip is lightly more thin, and the nosecone has a straight shape, respect to F 2004 M. Furthermore, in bahrain version, beside grills and chimneys I told, ther was also the small cockpit fissure ( as last year ) and front fins had only one small anterior flap. So, both above GP4 screens showed are noby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4

In the last Ferrari Barhain version, the nosecone was just similar to that of 2004 season..only just less height, but very similar. From far, You basically don't see many differences from F 2004 ( not F 2004 M !!! ). The nose was black, in respect of death of Pope. Also chimneys were particulars, since , respect to the launch version ( F 2005 ), there were togheter opened chimneys ( and noby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
If You want to change something in a Physic file, although in a carset or alone in your own GP4, You have to use anyway the Physic Editor ( 1,03 is for GP4 exe 102, with patch...but there is also another specific version for GP4 exe 100 ). You have to load the physic file, founding it in the carset folder. This is not difficult. Change with Physics Editor the parameters You want, and save. YOU Hby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
I've driven a minor Formula ( F3, some year ago ). Of course, this is not a F1, but is not a kart...that is different in driving. And, reading on best F1 magazine, I can report the words of Villeneuve, Badoer, and others: "the actual F1 cars are not difficult to drive; difficult is to know their limits, and in 2005 the driving efficency is specially on tyre care". With this, Iby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Honestly, when I read that some people think that actual F1 cars should be like those of '70 years ( oversteering, difficulty in mantaining car on track, etc ) I smile...Probably, this people have never driven a real , modern formula..I had this experience, and the real physic is not surely like GPL or F1 Challenge. The main problem reported about this helmet ( are You speacking about version 3...? ) is that it needs hi res textures. The second small bug is the difference between lod 1 and lod 3 or 4..on visor, from far, You may have some "clipping" effects..that is true. Honestly, I never fixed this problem on this helmet, since i developped then a new helmet shape ( Arai) with Diego ( Oggo ), woby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
There are 3 ways to fix this problem: 1) use only lod 0 ( if Your PC is enough powered...) with the Team Editor option ( use only best detailed files ): 2) rename a copy of lod 3 in lod 4 3) use a car with all real lower lods....this was one of the main principles for me when I shaped cars for GP4. But it seems that a lot of skilled shapers are making their best things only on lod 0 cars ( eveby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
Yes, try to do as above suggested. basically, when You install gp4 files for cockpit ( including textures ), You may have cut sides on cockpit. This is the reason for which You have to change inside cockpit projection with tweaker. Then, inserting files for visor ( dash board ), You need Team Editor, or tweaker, to adjust the visor position. Honestly, since from far I use both Tweaker and teamby nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4

I saw in the first screen that also the gp4 files, and tex files, for dash board, were not installed...See for example the "black" mirrors, and the damage displays on the left and right of dashboard. Hello In "Read_me" file is written: "....Some regulations with Tweaker 1045, or Team editor, are furtherly needed. To avoid the "side cut" effect of cockpit on board, You have to set with Tweaker option 21 ON BOARD CAMERA PROJECTION in this way, for all drivers: H 0.0000 V 0.0000 N -0.1000 F 0.0000 With option 23, set DASHboard position with X -0.0060by nicol@cciarri - Grand Prix 4
