Oh yeah, sometimes I think "star of the future" is sometimes a little over-used in Formula One, but Fernando for me definitely looks like being a real one. Hell he's a star right now nearly! I see him winning a race within a year, almost no question. Had his car had better straight line speed at Spain I think he could have really raced Schumi and even possibly beat him on the trackby Doug - F1
I'd like to see the name Piquet again, and Rosberg. I think I agree with the young hands bit though. With young hands, if they last that is, you either have a hypothetical Schumacher or Barrichello. By that I mean a guy like Barrichello enters when he's very young but fights for a very long time to get to the top of the pack. Barrichello of course took 7 years to win his first Grand Pby Doug - F1
It may well be wet for qualifying at least, the weather is completely unpredictable but does look threatening. If that happens, and there is a wet race as well, GOD knows what will happen However, I did dream several months ago that Juan Pablo dies at St Devote on lap 6. I pray to God that doesn't happen.by Doug - F1
"and I'm saying that as a Brazilian!" Yes, but we do know about Piquett's relationship with Ayrton "Sao Paulo Taxi Driver" Senna don't we? But it is a good point I guess. I would say that Senna would not build a team like Schumacher does, and Senna always looked for the best drive available. Remember he broke his contract with Toleman to get a drive at Lotusby Doug - F1
Concerning the pace of Minardi, yes, Mark Webber was a huge factor in it's success last year, however I don't think Minardi have really taken a step back this year, it's like Paul Stoddart has admitted, it's more a case of everybody else having taken a step forward. PS said last year they could rely on a crappy Arrows or Jag to race with, but now everyone has upped their game,by Doug - F1
Worst Team: For me it was Andrea Moda. LIFE was just piss poor, Lola 97 was just out of money but AM managed to come and make the grid once, then get the FIA to throw them out for bringing the sport into disripute. Well maybe I could just class them as silliest Grand Prix team. Kudos to Roberto Moreno though, the amount of times he's tried to make good of the constant crap drives he got. Bby Doug - F1
Just give them just the one microphone and let them fight over it. That's what Murray and James Hunt used to do at the beginning. I'm sure Martin would have no problems yanking the mic off JA if he felt he was blabbing on.by Doug - F1
We could always have Jerez come back and take the place of European Grand Prix once we all get tired of Nürburgring I suppose. Though I feel once the FIA get tired of Nürburgring they'll do away with a European Grand Prix to make way for strange foreign places... That is of course, not taking into account that they may give up Europe completely due to all the Tobacco BS...by Doug - F1
I'm quite happy with my 14-ish fps right now, but soon (some time) I will have new computer, so I finally see what all this 14+ fuss is all about.by Doug - Grand Prix 4
LOL F1 Driver is quite an impressive title for someone to have your daughter run away with, I don't know why he's complaining...by Doug - F1
Is there any footage or photos of the podium events after the GP? I still have a copy of F1 News from that time and it has a picture of the podium. It's nothing huge to be honest. Basically MS looking very uneasy, Larini looking not sure what to do and Mika looking rather bad, with the various officials looking quite sombre as well. I feel sorry for Larini, since Imola was his best result eby Doug - F1
That was a f*ck awful weekend wasn't it? First Rubens brakes his nose, then Roland dies, then Lehto and Lamy's car explode in all directions following Lamy ramming him, injuring several spectators (I remember reading somewhere it actually *killed* one of the spectators) then Senna crashes, then they start again and a wheel comes off Alboreto's car in the pits and the Minardi ploughby Doug - F1
Ah shite Too true G_Force, we can only hope and pray that it doesn't get any worse...by Doug - F1
Gianni was racing for a while in the ETCC last year (though I don't know what's he doing now...) and Karl was also doing GT stuff recently as well. I'd love to see Sarah driving in F1, that's for sure /edit - but then again (now I've seen Vader's post) maybe my statement is a bit biased toward the area of novelty rather than ability... The problem with the 94 Benneton was that it revolved around Schumacher, JJ and Jos had no chance. The fact that both drivers failed to live up to Michael's performance in the car I would say indicates more to do with the situation rather than the drivers, since JJ wasn't exactly shite either. Then of course the following year Jos took the Simtek and qualified high up the grid (for a Siby Doug - F1
Yipee! Nice thing was the Eddie said before Brazil he wouldn't bother celebrating the 200th Grand Prix until Jordan were successful again... ...by Doug - F1
Yay! Fantastic race! :D Interesting to see where the JV/Button saga will go from here though...by Doug - F1
Yep, I was being ridiculously optimistic.... Ho-humby Doug - F1
Wahey! :-D Though I fear for Minardi, Jos does have the tendancy of spinning when wet. No idea about Justin though, but good luck to him! However, would I be right in saying that now that Minardi can adjust their cars while the other's can't, they may be able to quickly add a wet setup? So while yes everyone will be on raintyres (one type only too) Minardi may be the only car properlyby Doug - F1
Well I can't blame Ralph for not playing computer games constantly. He's a local boy so I support him regardless. :D I don't know if he'll be the next British champion, or ever, but he has had a very successful history thus far. Not that that always means anything in Formula One...by Doug - F1
Yeah, Papyrus have always added a great damage model, from the original Nascar onwards. It's great playing IndyCar 2, cos then the bits really do fly and the bits of the car can get dented before being completely ripped off, leaving a much more prittier smashby Doug - F1
Yeah, nicely looking like there could be a great mix this year. Toyota looked good too.by Doug - F1
Ron Denis talks out of his arse some times. I am fully behind Paul here, as a Minardi fan, and a guy who doesn't want to see the number of teams drop even further. Ron's attitude here really p*sses me off!by Doug - F1
I think I agree that that crash in the support race at Suzuka was probably the most spectacular, though the two Minardi's at Monza '93 is probably my favourite :p Dragracing, if you can call that a motorsport, sometimes produces pretty cool accidents, especially when those really long top-fuel or something cars take to the air or buckle right round. There was one where there were two nby Doug - F1
Well said Martin, basically. But one thing I think is why is it in the previous age of driver aids and automatic everything, you still had great racing sometimes (Monaco '92, Donnington '93 etc) yet now, having all the aids again, this time they've made it just nearly constantly boring.by Doug - F1
I don't think there's a "may" about it. That seat's as good as his, IMO.by Doug - F1
