Installing SDI's final version of GPxPatch is definitely your first step. Get it here: As for a set of PFs for 2024, I do have some but they wouldn't be much use to you because they weren't built to work well with the default circuits, so I suggest you take a look in Gitanes thread: For the 2024 cars themselves, Fongu maintains a page for those here: Also, if tby Noog - Grand Prix 4

Hi Andy. I missed your post just before the one I made. (I'm not exactly firing on all cylinders right now. Nothing new there these days, but today is especially bad!) Lots of very valuable (and interesting) information in this thread from you that I've never seen before. Thanks. Screen config in KDE: I use f1graphics.cfg* to get the game to run in a Window, then I use the button on the title bar to create two KDE windows application rules. The first, removes the title bar and border from the game and the second sets the initial position. I close the game and from then on, it starts how I want it to. A quick update that you might find interesting: Just out of interest I loaded HTop and checked my GP4 CPU load there (I was talking about the in game 'O' key before when I mentioned my figures). In HTop it always shows between 100.0 and 100.7%, but I don't believe it for a minute, because it never changes, whether I'm at a busy part of the track or at the beginning of aby Noog - Grand Prix 4
"Can you remember how you configured your wine prefix?" I did nothing at all! I installed Manjaro, I installed Wine, I ran GPxPatch and played the game. (That's why I'm currently recommending it. Doesn't get easier than that!) "Are you using wine 10 stable? Arch like to have the cutting edge stuff or so I've been led to believe." Manjaro is using Wby Noog - Grand Prix 4
That's not a lot of info to go on there. The two most obvious questions though, are does this happen in all mods - and does it happen with a completely unmodified fresh installation of GP4? If the answers to both Q's is yes, it's related to your machine, your operating system or your wheel. If not, it's something in the mod (which could be one of a hundred things). Manjaro uses Wine v10. No problems at all - so no need for PlayonLinux, Lutris or anything else. Just Wine and you're away. That immediate crashing with the Direct X error was happening to me in MX Linux, but try as I might I never did get to the bottom of it. It does seem to me that as each year passes, GP4 is gradually being left behind as Linux moves on to support the latest games aby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Can't really help you with Ubuntu. Never used it. But, if I were in your position I'd want to know that the GP4 installation was working, so I'd install a Windows Virtualbox just to make sure the game runs on there. At least then you might have a better idea about what to do next. Before that though, while still in Ubuntu I would look at when the game crashes when I load it viaby Noog - Grand Prix 4
It might help to know which Linux distro you are using. Some have become increasingly difficult to make work with GP4 in recent years (eg, some of them need an intermediate package, like PlayonLinux to downgrade Wine to v8.xx first - so if you always get the error after clicking load in GPxPatch but before the GP4 screen that may well be the solution). However, I can definitely say that Manjarby Noog - Grand Prix 4

Fadilll / gp4wonder - If you've turned up all the volumes in the game menu, it might be a good idea to take a closer look at GPxPatch screens. 1. Under the GPxPatch tab, make sure GPxSound is not de-selected. I did that once by accident and I searched everywhere else before I noticed that! 2. Click on the GPxSound tab. Next time you load GPxPatch, click on the GPxInfo tab and you'll see a list of scripts being used, ie ticked (or not; not ticked) in the mod: this.ini, that.ini etc. One of those will be generating your dash dials. Double click the ini that seems to have the name most likely to be concerned with the dials ("dash" or "dash dials" usually) and a new window will open.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
If the other two replies fix your problem, great. However, if they don't, try choosing 'Old behaviour' in GPxPatch before you select more than one car in a session. It's what I've been doing since this 'bug' began to appear after GPxPatch 4.44 (I think it was). The causes are well understood - and there are ways to fix it for many tracks (power and physics); but not without messing up the performance in the rest of the race. Setting the 'Rail line' to zero in the MD (Line 75 IIRC) can also help with some tracks, but not others. I've just realized I've made a small error in the upload. It's not a big deal but the GP4.EXE has had the 4gb patch applied to it which means that if you try to apply a CSM mod to it CSM will complain that GP4.exe has been modified. Until fairly recently there was a place where anyone could download a working default GP4 installation that was already updated with the official patch, GPxPatch and the 4gb+ patch, so you could just drop the contents into a folder and play the updated (but default) game without having to do any installation or any other messing around (although you needed to install WINE first if you were a Linuby Noog - Grand Prix 4
