WTF??? A subterranean volcanic cave? A lava tube? Now THAT'S a unique track feature! LOL. Looks like fun!by Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
Well, I'm very happily playing in 1920x1080 now! Looks fantastic! Thanks again, Foreverk! Thanks again to both of you for pointing out how to get rid of the Lo2kTheme. Haven't tried to restore the driver's names, yet. Had an issue with the "G25.con" file: Couldn't get the brakes to work. Tried everything I could think of in settings, recalibrated, still no jby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
Thanks, Foreverk! Just wanted to post this quick thank you before I head off to work. I'll do more exploring later!by Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
SUCCESS! I ran the 9.6 patch, then replaced the GP4.exe with the NoCD version, then downloaded and ran GPxPatch v 4.44 from your website, SDI. A "Windows Features" box came up, telling me that "Grand Prix 4 on your PC needs the following Windows feature: Direct Play". So I allowed installation of that. Then the GPxPatch box opened. I did a quick check of each tab, thenby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
THANK YOU, SDI! I wish your clear, informative post had been the FIRST one I'd read after experiencing problems (which turned out to be related to failing HARDWARE and had NOTHING to do with GP4 SOFTWARE). First, when I started this topic, I wasn't familiar with GPxPatch. In my second post (April 14), I wrote that i'd "got GP4 running well for the most part, after instalby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
@salvasirignano: Thank you for the clear advice! @mortal: I'm stunned by this admission: "I do not know what is in any of the downloads available on GP4Central." Then why, in your April 15 post did you state: "The game link on GP4 Central is a ready to play iso, that might be easier as it contains required patches"? Can anyone explain to me what's in that 566 Mby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
Thanks, mortal, for advice, but I'm unclear as to EXACTLY how to proceed... As far as I can tell, the "latest version" of gpx_patch is not available separately at gp4central. Version 4.44 is included in the 170 MB "Grand Prix 4 v 1.02" archive. Should I download that, unpack it, and use ONLY the gpx_patch it contains? Or are there other files in that archive I'llby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
What do you mean, "Did you start it through GPxPatch?" In my May 28 post, I asked for explicit guidance as to which of the 4 "game" downloads at gp4central to use, and in which order, but have so far gotten no guidance I can use. As I wrote most recently, the only file I've downloaded and run (setup) so far is the 566 MB "Grand Prix 4.iso," which I THOUGHTby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
Thanks. I sent him a PM BTW, I didn't realize "iso" is a type of compression archive until after I wrote my last post. I thought "iso" was a "typo" in your message! Then, after I downloaded the 566 MB file, I saw that it was identified as an "iso Archive" and it hit me that everything I needed was probably in there. My 7-zip unpacked it fine, and Iby Wee_Scot - Grand Prix 4
My hardware issues have been resolved and I'm now happily using an i7 processor with 8 GB of RAM, a salvaged 750 GB hard drive, and a Radeon HD 5850 video card (to play GTR2...). Now I'm ready to play some GP4! More than a month ago, mortal helpfully suggested: "The game link on GP4 Central is a ready to play iso, that might be easier as it contains required patches.
