I'm stumped, but anxious. I'll just wait for it. Lets not get to excited. You dont want to be disappointed if its not some huge advance. JimBobs work has always been of quality and a great addition to GP4. I'll enjoy it no matter what it is. I'm thinking it is a track we should have had. Greetings. My brother and I do the hotseat racing and found a problem with the latest hungary track. Even though our hot seat turns are set to 8, which should provide some 4+ minutes of driving, we are only getting 51 seconds in the seat before the other car takes over. It goes for 51 seconds, etc, etc until at the last iteration, where there are still some 65 laps to be done by the person inby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Well, I upgraded to a AMD6000 dual core with a X1900X video card. I'm playing at 60 fps in high res everything turned on except heat haze and visor and I never notice a slowdown. I am over the moon with glee this my rig for GP4. This is the way it is supposed to be played. 22 inch monitor at 1680x1050. I feel like I am experiencing GP4 for the first time. There has to be something that can be done about this. It is intelectual property of the carmakers. I wuld think this would be the same as website content which cannot be copied directly or you CAN be sued. This is likly due to using the original GP4.exe and utilities that require the official patch to be loaded and the mewst GP4.exe. I had a very similar issue and loading the official patch and the latest gp4.exe fixed all those issues. Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Shaddix, I am very interested in helping. Do you have a set of requirements that could be broken down into tasks that need to be accomplished. I have a bunch of ideas I am going to write up as a program overview that was going to lead to a set of requirements, because I have been obsessed with the idea of turning GP4 into a Formula1 Manager game for a couple years, but have not had the time to dby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Torrow Rosso least fanbase team? You really think so? Probably right. I like Torro Rosso, so I must be one of the few Being in the US, I have been cheering for Scott Speed to at least beat Liuzzi. I was only able to cheer for about 20 second last race GO TORRO ROSSO!!!by schaller - Grand Prix 4
I make a personal car each year and what I do is just split the lods for the last team. I am running 1 spyker and 1 super aguri in the Super Aguri team slot. This way the "Team Schaller Formula1" cars can take up a full team slot. I just swap Sutil and Davidson helmets and names in for the next race. Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4

The multitude of patches for this game allready edit the variables we need to generate performance files, set pit stops, all that. Wrap a manager front end around the modification of those files and either participate as the driver of the team you are managing by driving yourself, or watch the race unfold on the TV based on all the options that went into making up the performance files. GP4 could be turned into a manager game for sure. Someone had started a thred about a year ago on this topic and seemd to be developing something, but judging from the lack of posts on the topic, it must not have gotten anywhere. I'm sure a few people could put something rather incredible together with the ideas that have been thrown around. Just need some discussion and direction. Makeby schaller - Grand Prix 4
OK. I found the problem. If you are having problems with cars showing up white and some of the helmets are white, even though you know your cars.wad is good. This problem is due to an incorrect installation of the patch and the executable itself. If you have GP4 in an unpatched state, you have to use the unpatched, decryped no-cd GP4.exe. If you want to use the patched program you must instaby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Kyle. I believe you are hitting on the same issue I was complaining about last week. This thing where you wind up seeing 4 williams and some of the helmet textures are gone even though the cars.wad is perfect. I believe the problem is in GPxPatch. On a clean install with not mods, my cars.wad is fine, but with GPxPatch, I get crazy car placement for 3 teams a couple white helmets. This evenby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Hello Lo2k. I have tried "fix parts to object links" many times now and the reply is allways "0 parts were reassigned" and no visible differences in game. I have not read the instructions completely on this yet, so I could be doing it incorrectly. I have been able to get the sand to show up by unlinking it from the huge object in scene 1, but other sub object once ungroupedby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Ok, I had some time to mess with this track and What I did was ungroup some of the objects that are part of the massive single object in scene1. I am now seeing all the sand in the distance, but am having varied results with some of the other objects, but this is fixable. this track is beautiful to be sure!! Great job everyone involved. Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Hi Ruboy, I see it with the mass ground tex that surrounds the track. The sand I should say. Then the pit building seems to clip also. These are all part of a single enormous object sitting by itself in its own scene. Hopefully a s ignel application to the entire object might suffice. I am going to try this also and see. Good Luck. Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Hi Ruboy. good to hear from you again. I wish I had more time to work on tracks, but my business took me away. I want to get back into it soon I hope, once I can manage more time to myself. So you are seeing the same clipping problems I am seeing? Ahhh. I am going to go through a bunch of the tex files and see if I can find anything. I remember Istanbul had this problem for a while, but we fby schaller - Grand Prix 4
This track rocks!! You guys have done it again. Ruboy, great work on the details. The only issue I am having with this track is some clipping of graphics. Its been almost a year since I did any track editing and I swear there was an easy fix for the clipping issue. Does anyone remember what that is. Something about unify normals and compute normals. Is that right. Thanks Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for the comments guys. I insert the cars manually. When the community receive these beautiful cars, we either get the lod0 or some people provide lod0 - lod4. If I only have lod0, I just copy it multiple times, rename it appropriatly for car1 and car2 and drop it in the unpacked cars directory and build a cars.wad. I am confused as to how I could possibly have a lower lod issue. I dby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Ok, I know how to manually replace cars in the wad file, have been doing it for years now, but there is an issue I cant seem to resolve and I cant find any reference to a fix for this in old posts. Lets say I have the torro rosso using the minardi postion in the cars.wad file, and the toyota using the prost location in the cars.wad file. for some reason, no matter wehat I try, I will see thby schaller - Grand Prix 4
I was thinking. My brother and I hotseat race the entire season every year and latley, we have been imagining how fun it would be if there was a way to see live timing of our race on a 2nd PC networked to the game machine. I would think there would be a way to edit GP4 to write a stats file to a location readable by a networked PC. The timing doesnt even have to be live. maybe a 5 second delaby schaller - Grand Prix 4
For one race with this car, I want to see Rubens and Jenson have their helmets painted one as the sun, the other as the moon. lolol. That would be really fun. Its a beautiful idea. People will take notice. F1 is MASSIVE. Cudos to Honda. Its not very racy looking but oh well, I like the idea. It should not be very hard for a GP4 artist to do this car. The pits in istanbul are not space out consecutivly like with the other tracks. There is a small entrance between every 3rd or 4th pit. The builder of the pit model "All hail Fongu" went for realism and accuratly recreated the pit complex. As the author of the Istanbul track, I do plan on someday edit the pit to make it more GP4 friendly, but that will be a while away. Thanks Schaby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Um... Come on Ruboy. I take offence to that statement. This is only an update with some additional objects thrown in. You are just extending the creation of Fongu, Zeppelin and myself. I worked on that damn track for nearly 5 months, every single day. Your update is much easier to do once you stand on the back of the creators. Your update is nice, but it will allways be my track until someby schaller - Grand Prix 4
Sorry Ruboy, I have not checked the forum in a couple days. In the drivers view, as you approach the 360 complex, the bridge does not show up. When you go past it, it shows up in the mirrors, but not in the drivers view. If you are seeing it as you drive, maybe it is my graphics.cfg file. Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4
OK, I saw one more thing and thats it, the Arched Bridge before the 360 complex is invisible. Just needs to have normals flipped I believe. But thats it. Great update. Schallerby schaller - Grand Prix 4
People, You are going to love this update Rouboy has worked very hard on. I love it. Rouboy, When the CC cars go to pit, they crash bigtime into the pit wall entrance on the right side. Save off your cars.wad, and any other files you want to keep and completely remove your current installation. Delete the directory and completely reinstall the game. I think once you go over the hill with the CSM, You're in for good. It introduces a completely new file structure for referencing cars.wad and a few other files.
