this bit does crack me up, a quote from F1-live reporting on comments from an 'insider' regarding the voting rights of the new entrants "Most of us think that they should not be allowed a vote on these matters, although by all means let them attend the meetings and listen to what is being discussed," so let me get this straight. sounds (as usual) all is not quite what it seems so if i read that right the FIA's version is, FOTA agreed to drop the breakaway if a new concorde agreement was sorted out and the rule changes modified. The FIA agreed to this. FOTA then send a series of updated (and rather long ) documents to the FIA, for inclusion in said concorde agreement. the FIA need time to look over theby marwood82 - F1

"The FIA’s lawyers have now examined the FOTA threat to begin a breakaway series. The actions of FOTA as a whole, and Ferrari in particular, amount to serious violations of law including wilful interference with contractual relations, direct breaches of Ferrari's legal obligations and a grave violation of competition law. The FIA will be issuing legal proceedings without delay. Prepaby marwood82 - F1

on thing that did occur to me over the weekend, Max says the rules state FOTA have to sign up to allow them to modify the cost cutting plans to something more to their liking. FOTA have said they won't do that. but Red Bull, Torro Rosso and Ferrari's entries have been accepted unconditionally. So are they then able to negiotate changes on FOTA's behalf? i'm woby marwood82 - F1
interesting list. i still think Alonso to Ferrari is a done deal for next year though. Davidson would be an interesting choice for Manor. as he's probably done more miles in an f1 car than the rest of the field put together. i like the USF1 line up, though JR Hildebrand in the redbull driver program is starting to look quite useful.by marwood82 - F1

they're a F3 outfit involving Nick Wirth wondering if their inclusion has to do with Cosworth. i'm sure i heard something about Cosworth needing 3-4 teams to make an engine supply viable. there was a rumour of a prodrive-mclaren tie up so maybe prodrive weren't included because they intended to use mercedes engines? the problem with a FOTA run series is where is the money going to come from? yes you sell tv deals sponsorship etc, but that all comes later. to start something to rival F1 you've got to stump up a huge ammount of cash upfront. do you seriously see the boards of toyota, renault, bmw and co all agreeing to plough millions into a breakaway series when at the same time they're goingby marwood82 - F1
i was very tempted to get tickets a few weeks back, but in the end decided to go for the Belgian grand prix instead. Went to goodwood couple of years ago, weather was horrendous but still had a great day. Looks a fantasic lineup as always. Nick Mason's Auto Union is well worth checking out. i don't think the elections are until august. i think thats 1 possible FOTA tactic, play for time and try to get him replaced. which is why he isn't budging and wants it sorted quickly. one interesting thing i did notice the other day(it may already have been mentioned here, so sorry if its old news). is that Ferrari are apparently contracted to race in F1 until 2012. the reports last week had FOTA placing the ball in mosley's court. Sounds like he's just volleyed it right back at them. To be honest, i'm beginning to think a better way is needed to sort this argument out once and for all.by marwood82 - F1
