Unless today's race was held at Montreal... I think you posted in the wrong thread Perhaps you've been infected by some McLaren Honda gremlins?by J i m - F1
Lmao... you've made the track map look more like a pulled tooth! I know this is not the epic old Österreichring, but I still like this circuit. Looks like there will be some weather... which is a shame for Williams and the upgrades but possibly good for the racing.by J i m - F1
Indeed, Backpedalling back to topic slightly... They might be rather pleased with themselves... Congrats Nico, Nick and Earl.by J i m - F1

The fabled 24 hour sports car race is in the headlines at present, after full-time Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg won on Sunday for Porsche. Good on the Hulk. But also congrats to Nick Tandy, (who really took off into the night hours) and Earl Bamber. Lets not forget that Nico Hulkenberg is not bigger than the rest of the team simply because he's a F1 driver.by J i m - F1
It wouldn't surprise me... I think Cart did a couple of races at Montreal after all. Always amazes me how many full course cautions are followed by several more because someone either collides or crashes on the restarts.by J i m - F1
I'm glad Grosjean accepted the responsibility for it though and apologised for it. I guess he felt he probably had to, given his recent comments regarding Verstappen which were reasonable and fair. That's one of the things I like about Grosjean, he's mature enough to admit fault for things and then he learns from it. He's come a long way from his 'first lap nutcaseby J i m - F1
I'm glad you're enjoying yourself Math Quite a nice race I thought, ok not the usual wall to wall mayhem we've come to expect at Montreal but having a race without a safety car allowed it to play out naturally for a change. Mercedes were obviously peerless with or with out the brake, tyre, fuel management issues and I got the same feeling as at Melbourne, it looked closer thby J i m - F1
Exactly... He's pretty much the youngest and most inexperienced driver to race in F1 but up until that moment at Ste Devote you wouldn't have thought so. Thus far he's been magnificent and surprisingly mature. But he's bound to have his moments as he is so young and inexperienced. Massa and Grosjean's comments might have a hint of justification, but don't forget tby J i m - F1
I don't think we should judge Verstappen too harshly for that, I mean I know the stewards judged him to be at fault, but to be honest we've seen many older more experience rookies (let alone veterans) make far bigger mistakes than that. Up until then, all his manoeuvres had been beautiful. Glad he's ok.by J i m - F1
What a massive own goal by Mercedes, honestly I can not recall ever being as baffled by any strategic mistake as this. I don't think even they understand what they did. There was just no need to pit. You could fully understand Hamilton being completely and utter gutted at this result, as he completely dominated... With or without brake problems. The petulance was amusing and slightly sadby J i m - F1
I sometimes find it tiring that alcohol is so readily used as a explanation or excuse even for poor judgement. The potential for poor judgement is there before getting drunk.. Indeed if you know that you're more vulnerable to being a fool when drunk, then it's poor judgement in the first place to get drunk. Alcohol is not the cause of poor judgement, a contributing factor maybe but notby J i m - F1
Not a patch on last years epic race, but by no means a terrible race. Great to have Kimi finally back up on the podium, that stint on the primes was mega and decent strategy overall for him. He looked a bit more assured than Vettel all day. Am I alone in thinking he really ought to have found a way past Bottas? Not much to say about Hamilton. He's simply reached a level of maturity wheby J i m - F1
I don't expect them to be winning races this year, probably not next year. But I don't think they should be so readily written off. The main barriers to current competitiveness are reliability. They haven't been able to run the powertrain at it's intended power because so far it simply breaks. There are plenty of positive noises about the chassis though, and we know that it isby J i m - F1
Button might not have quite the "superstar" pull of an Vettel, Hamilton or Alonso but he is still very highly regarded. Personality wise he is very well liked and therefore also marketable, just look at how many cheesy TV adverts he appears in for sponsors He's also had a very strong career. Ok, so he's not going to end up at the sharp end of the all time greats for recoby J i m - F1
I'm usually very much an Rosberg advocate, but yesteday he simply sounded silly. Even if he was technically correct, he still sounded ridiculous. This is supposed to be racing isn't it? Think the car ahead is too slow? Then catch it and pass it or STFU. The truth of the matter is that once again he got comprehensively out raced by his team mate, it's as simple as that. Hehe, hadn't really followed practice as I tend to prioritise being well slept for work (I've grown up and become boring). But here are some il conceived thoughts on the qualify. Merc had that easy, as they probably ought to have. The result was very close between Lewis and Britney, but in reality it's probably not as close as it looked as Lewis fluffed his last lap and apparentby J i m - F1
Enjoyable race, possibly helped by Ericsson prompting the safety car and creating some more strategy intrigue. I think it's now clear that Ferrari have taken a very definite and impressive step forward, the powertrain has improved and it seems that James Allison has engineerd the chassis to use the tyres very effectively. The Malaysia heat may have played into their hands but this was notby J i m - F1
I think we have to hold fire before we judge McLaren Honda too much, at least until they get the power train working as intended. I know there are mixed views on the quality of the car, but Button ranked something like 4th of the cornering forces at Melbourne which might suggest that actually the chassis is pretty promising, certainly the way he just sweeped back around Perez was impressive. Lol, taken his six tenths back to McLaren eh? So Ferrari were looking pretty good today, getting close enough to Mercedes pace to shout BOO! But I think Merc will have plenty in reserve. Williams appeared to be having some pretty serious tyre deg problems today, so I suspect Ferrari's edge over them will be comfortable but I think Williams can recover some of that overnight. Bottas and Alonso have been cleared to compete, Manor have been warned that another weekend of no running will not be tolerated this time and Sutil has been nominated as the reserve driver for Williams. I certainly didn't see the Sutil news coming.by J i m - F1

So Sauber and Van der Garde have come to a settlement. It turns out that his sponsors paid up front for this year's drive in full last year in turn for him being a race driver for 2015. If that being so then Saubers actions of then going on to sign two different drivers without a word to Van der Garde or Sutil for that matter is really poor on their part. I doubt even having won his courtby J i m - F1
Yeah one relatively quiet race doesn't automatically equate to a bad season. But it's always the negative which gets talked about most. I remember Bahrain 2010, which was an exceedingly boring opening race and everyone was panicking. But then it went on to become a season of decent races, and a competitive year where four drivers took the title fight to the wire, and it was so nearlyby J i m - F1

So, what do we think? A small scattering of punitory videos hosted by the likes of Peter Windsor and James Allen, complimented by edited clips of driver interviews and smallest sprinkling of retro footage. A seriously belated tiny step in the correct direction, but they could learn so much from the likes of F1 Archives whom of-course they're desperate to bury underneath the rug. Andby J i m - F1
So, we've got Red Bull ripping into Renault, perhaps understandingly so considering how they've somehow brought along a engine worse than what they took to Abu Dhabi, but the annoying thing is how he's now pleading to the FIA to 'equalise' the engines which basically translates as "wahhhh wahhhh, we're not winning " I wonder if he'd be as enthusiastby J i m - F1
