They should be fined like Ferrari was last time. Except that it was a violation of the sporting regulations last season and now it isn't. I agree it's unsporting, immoral and I'd prefer them to race (but if Webber ignored it, then we did actually see them racing anyway), but it's now 100% legal. But holding station has always been deemed legal, it's swapping cars andby DaveEllis - F1
If the rules have to be changed to outlaw it, then it isn't illegal. Unanimous agreement on the blown diffuser issue was not reached this morning. Ferrari and Sauber voted against the decision. Isn't it good to have a group of teams that can work together? Oh wait.by DaveEllis - F1
They didn't 'shut down' invites, they just limited it like they said they would because it's being rolled out, not launched.by DaveEllis - Off-Topic
I also wouldn't mind one if someone gets hold of one. Cheers.by DaveEllis - Off-Topic
So, it was be overtaken, or wreck someone who does overtake. But like I said, that's how NASCAR is wanting them to play. They now ENCOURAGE cars to wreck each other with this "boys have at it" crap.by DaveEllis - Other Motorsports
He was right in his first comment, totally agree. And I like that he said how it is. However if McLaren don't want him to say it then he can't say it. My issue is that he then turns round and blames the media for it? Yeah, that'll go down well. Vettel is similar to Schumacher in that the mistakes come in Free Practice. Vettels had quite a few offs, but only one ended seriously.by DaveEllis - F1
Lewis on TV: "It's finished really. In the sense of the title it's almost over." Lewis on Twitter: To all our supporters, ignore what u read in the papers today. My team will never give up & I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!!! Bring on silverstone, ur support will make a world of difference to us. I'm going to the factory now to do all I can with our team. But as bad as JPM was, it doesn't matter. NASCAR has said it's ok to drive like that.by DaveEllis - Other Motorsports
Since NASCAR announced drivers will not be punished for acting like this, the drivers will continue to do so.by DaveEllis - Other Motorsports
Abit OTT? Nope. You said it yourself - the race was ordinary. It wasn't riviting. It wasn't a classic. But it also wasn't dull and boring and it was certainly a metric @#$%& tonne better than a lot of races last year, and much better than most of the early 00s.by DaveEllis - F1
It was very processional just like the first Valencia race (which I also remember being particularly dull) and for this reason I would also point to the circuit being not great. Processional except for the 2nd place changing 3 times, and all those other passes. It wasn't a good race by 2011 standards, but boring? @#$%& me, some people are spoiled. We had more action in that than the eby DaveEllis - F1
If that's the worst race of the year, then we should be overjoyed at the state of F1. If you're complaining, you're not an F1 fan. So GTFO.by DaveEllis - F1

This race is brought to you by Lewis Hamilton. The man who cannot drive slower.by DaveEllis - F1
One example of the misleading footage is when the film came to Senna arguing about the pole position side at Suzuka, they showed some footage of Senna arguing with an official in a course car at the Hockenheim pit exit. I don't see what that has to do with how Alain Prost was represented in the movie. Or anything in fact, since we know there was an argument regarding pole positions side aby DaveEllis - F1

Could you tell me if this is available to buy anywhere? The Blu-Ray copy is the Directors Cut Edition. The normal DVD copy is just the regular version, from the Cinema. Honestly, in terms of a movie, the directors cut is rubbish. They cut out a lot of Prost interviews (most of which just made Prost look very poor anyway), and a lot of the ESPN guys stuff. There is nothing of value missing.by DaveEllis - F1

Decals arrived! :D I'll hopefully be converting them on Friday. As you can see there is slight damage to the MP4/4, which occured whilst it was in storage. So that'll need another decal set to repair it too.by DaveEllis - Off-Topic
Vettel had done 2 laps around the same speed as Jenson (give or take 3 or 4 tenths). Pirellis take less than a lap to get up to temperature. If they were low in temperature after 2 laps of being 4 tenths off of Buttons speed, then it stands to reason that every other car on the grid was driving on ice cold tyres, from being significantly lower speed than both of them. In reality, the speed reqby DaveEllis - F1

Treluyer was the star of the show. Lapping at those speeds, whilst doing FIVE stints, then getting out and giving interviews like he'd just been for a walk in the park. At one point he consistently lapped 4 seconds quicker than the leading Peugeot, which was more than enough to make up the difference lost by the higher fuel consumption of the R18. No offence chet, but you're just making it up as you go along now. Tyre temperatures are an issue? No confidence to push? Got complacent? Sorry man, but that's just poor. He made a mistake whilst fighting from the lead. When others make mistakes none of these are issues - it was a mistake whilst fighting for the lead, nothing more. Just because he's made less mistakes than everyoneby DaveEllis - F1
To be fair, it would have worked - he was five corners from the finish and despite all our prayers for a grandstand finish, he wasn't realistically going to be overtaken by Button... and maybe that's what caught him out - he relaxed and took his eye off the ball? I'm actually glad Vettel made the mistake, because I think DRS would have simply gifted Jenson the win. and I'dby DaveEllis - F1
but lapped cars probably should give up the racing line in that situation. No. A lapped car should be predictable in it's movement. Vettel's mistake was a mistake induced by the fact he had drive quick! He got flustered and you saw the result. Might be reading a bit much into it. Karthikeyan had also just come out of the pits, and his unusual explanation for his lack of pace was that he didn’t know he had been given slicks, and had thus deliberately driven on the wet line… “For whatever reason I didn’t get a call saying we were going to go on slicks, so in my mind I thought I was still on intermediates,” said the Indian. “And when I came out of the pits I realised thatby DaveEllis - F1
Before him, other drivers understood that slower cars had a right to race too. It existed long before that though. Jack Brabham once got so annoyed at a back marker that after he overtook him, he put his outside wheel onto the grass to kick up stones and dirt into the face of the driver behind, and that was after giving him the finger on the way passed. But then again, Jack was known to do thaby DaveEllis - F1
