Nurburgring can´t afford the race (who owns the track now btw?) and with Hockenheim having lost all of its character I guess its logic that people lost all interest in it. I hope the Imola rumours are true, though. Also and regarding Austria GP, it was mentioned some time ago that Red Bull could add the old Osterreichring loop to the track, but idk what happened with that.by Frantic - F1
I think it will improve with bigger tyres next year. The biggest issue is the neurotic race direction we have. Look at Interlagos 93 and then say they can't race with today's cars in today's tracks.by Frantic - F1
Poor hulk. The wet races situation is getting ridiculous. They can't make a standing start because it's too wet but as soon as the SC leaves they go for intermediates? Also, Charlie has lost it.by Frantic - F1
In my opinion Verstappen had only one major collision more due to the drivers he´d been wheel to wheel than because of his driving itself. For instance I´m sure he´d crashed in Hungary and Belgium if he was racing against someone that isn´t as fine as Kimi. Vettel is frustrated? Yes he is. But he´s not a robot. And also the radio thing exagerates it all. I remember Spa 98, the Schumacher-Coultby Frantic - F1
and now Vettel is penalised too ( I wouldn´t be surprised if I wake up tomorrow and the 3rd place belongs to Palmer). Maybe the move on Ricciardo was a little over the edge. In my opinion it wasn´t an illegal move. But what bothers me most is Verstappen´s way too arrogant behaviour, even for a 18 years old. He knew he was wrong and he didn´t give the place back (allowing Ricciardo to put morby Frantic - F1
Nice to see the GP threads coming back to life! Lewis´behaviour is nothing new to me its like he simply likes to look out of place. Nice work by Hass putting both cars on Q3!by Frantic - F1
Adding to what gav said: A lot of things can be done to avoid all the factors listed there (or reduce their effects). for example: virtual safety car, improving tyre barriers, improving wet tyres, etc etc etc etc. The Halo is amongst them. Freak is when something is impossible to have under control, and Bianchi´s crash had a lot of factors involved that could have been under control and wereby Frantic - F1
I don´t like how it looks but I think we´ll forget about it 2 or 3 races later. I think its gonna be one of the biggest aesthetical changes in the sport, along with for example when they started to place the radiators in the sidepods. (I´d like to know what did the people think in 1970 when the Lotus 72 was first presented...) Though I agree it has to happen, what concerns me is the visibilityby Frantic - F1
yep, something like we used to have until 2008. Regarding what Gav said, now that he mentions it, something i still dont have clear is if the sidepods width is gonna be increased. The cars will have a 2m width but I dont know if that implies only having a bigger floor. On the other hand i think the tyre dimmensions are more or less ok (certainly they make the front wing to be in proportion tby Frantic - F1
As I said in another post, thats the difference between Hamilton and Rosberg, Lewis knows how to bend the rules a bit in his favour. Nico instead does it treacherously, and I consider his penalty fair as he is a reincident in the matter In spite of that i still think F1 is waaaay overruled and thats the main cause of all this issues, combined with the tarmac run-offs. I always look at Hunby Frantic - F1
I think it was a matter of time. He lost his wife early this year. It must have been too hard for him and his children to be apart during this months.by Frantic - F1
Maybe Bernie is pulling a Bernie and the agreement with Imola is just a way to increase pressure on Monza organizers to find a solution to their issues. Actually the last thing i read was that Monza authorities solved their territorial problems and were about to send a binding offer to FOM.by Frantic - F1
Sorry for the delayed answer - been out for a while! Viewing what happened in the last race, I still think the problem is the full-wets not being good enough. Drivers use full wets only to follow the safety car, and then they go inmediately fot the intermeds. And that didnt happen only in Silverstone. Back in 2011 or 2012 i remember Schumacher and other drivers criticizing this tyres alreadyby Frantic - F1
From what i read tyres were made smaller due to the excessive amount of downforce on the front part of the car that resulted from 2009 rule changes. (Its silly how they went in favour of aerodynamical grip with everybody screaming for more mechanical grip.) Regarding the heavier cars. More weight means more centrifugal force. Results will depend on how the balance between aero and tyres is sorby Frantic - F1
Yep I agree on that, too. On Rosberg vs. Hamilton: I think Lewis sorta knows how to play "smartly dirty", i mean dirty but legal in a way. In football terms Lewis would be a Roy Keane. Instead when Rosberg tries to do that he ends up being a Pepe.by Frantic - F1
The image with the old circuit is on purpose, as there is a possibility of a return of the old Osterreichring loop for next year Clicky! Regarding 2016, Nice timing from Hulk and Jenson! Gonna watch out for Ferrari and Red Bull as they start with supersoft tyres. In Monaco, while the track was still cold, supersofts were faster than ultrasofts so this could bring us surprisesby Frantic - F1
Maybe is the weight. cars from late 90s-early 2000s weigh like 120kg less than today´s cars. And if im not mistaken, altough grooved, front tyres were bigger. edit: searched a bit, minimun weight in 2004 was 600kg and now is 702kg. and in the 90s was 540kg i think.by Frantic - F1
the pre 2000 first chicane was amazing. now they made that curve dreary. Now, with this new configuration I´m already imaging cars full throttle straight from the Parabolica, overtaking at 350+kph in the first curve, from the outside. Im shivering from just thinking that. Its like they want to retake the fastest circuit record (now held by Mexico GP). they actually decided not to remove theby Frantic - F1
Apparently a verbal agreement has been reached between Monza organizers and Bernie. There are some layout changes planned for 2017: First chicane would be removed and the Curva Grande would be replaced. Cars would take the old Pirelli track that is not used since the 50s i think, then a left right turn to return at the exit of the actual Curva Grande. Also, gravel on Parabolica would be back !by Frantic - F1
i dont think its all said for the Halo or aeroscreen or whatever they put there. altough its almost certain they´ll introduce it in the next few seasons,Im not sure they´ll introduce it by 2017. Button´s drain cover incident will just add fuel to the fire. Something I dont like at all is those rear wing endplates relaxed diagonally rearwards that apparently will be the norm next year. They´by Frantic - F1
I think also Hamilton was a little desperate for regaining the position. Not a maneuver to do in the 3rd corner. I agree with what was said before, but the crash itself its likely a 50/50. and Kvyat was destroyed, I think he has talent but i fear he´s on his way to be another Ivan Capelliby Frantic - F1
Thats how it worked in the late 60s! Tyrrell ran a March 901 in 1970 (if I remember correctly) until they built their own car. What Haas is doing is incredible, and they have their own chassis! Its not only about being a customer, its about putting it all together and make it work. Haas came up with a nice car with a great balance under braking. And I personally dont think Ferrari is supporby Frantic - F1
I can recall Stewart in 1997 only, when they had the best Ford engine but they werent this good. Maybe Sabuer? Its nice that they´re showing that you can build a team and be competitive, a 180° turn in the message the 3 newcomers gave in 2010... The qualy system is awful. Grosjean was cheering for Hulkenberg so he was eliminated in Q2 and could start with fresh tyres. I still think thats not sby Frantic - F1
fast posting, may i put some details later. Alonso not racing, it has been revealed he had a broken rib and pneumothorax, will be replaced by Vandoorneby Frantic - F1
well then he is lucky to have this accident now and not in 1985 Burti sustained head injuries, as far i remember concentration problems, seizures for some time after the crash I think. had to sit out for the rest of the season and never raced in F1 again. There are some pics of the helmet he wore that day that are a little shockingby Frantic - F1
Alonso could have his head smashed against the barriers if something like a roll hoop failed! being hit by a wheel etc etc there are lots of examples. he was lucky indeed . I agree with mosley, a crash at that speed with the safety 15 years ago cars had, maybe wouldnt be enough (remember Burti in Spa 2001, not a barrell roll but a high speed crash indeed) to save him of being injured. its noby Frantic - F1
That would be much longer than an hour. you´d have like 50 laps in total to broadcast, and thats more than a race in some circuits like Spa. Dont see it as a viable option, mostly for commercial issues. My favourite is also the pre 2002 system for the same reasons mitadumapaga stated. the Q1 Q2 Q3 is ok but it takes away some variables like doing a Barrichello in Spa ´94. All the versions wby Frantic - F1
cant believe I stayed up until 4 AM to see this. guess I´m stupider than this systemby Frantic - F1
supossedly qualy should reward the fastest driver and thats simply not happening. obviously this is made on purpose to mix-up the grid a bit but where is the sense of competence?by Frantic - F1
