Hamilton won but Ferrari messed up on strategy. Vettel should have won considering he had track position and really good race pace. Either way, this should be a close fight for the rest of the season.by slider - F1
Fantastic race. It was nice to see all the strategies play out. Unfortunately, it was obvious that Alonso was going to run away with it early on. The race for 2nd and 3rd was what made it interesting. Webber looked like a rookie with that overtaking attempt. The loose wheel just capped off a forgettable weekend for him. Pity about Rosberg. Also disappointed with Massa. His pace in the practiceby slider - F1
Really happy that Kimi won. He showed the rest of the grid how to look after tires AND have good pace. I was hoping that Hamilton would have been closer to the front but his 2 stop strategy killed his chances. The good news for him is that the Mercedes is faster than the Mclaren.by slider - F1
Unless I saw wrong, Alonso ran very wide before the final corner on his fastest/last lap. I was quite surprised that the stewards did not disallow that lap for exceeding the track limits. I'll download a replay later to confirm, just for interest. Also, maybe they decided to let it go because of the conditions and the number of other drivers that were regularly running off the road. I'm happy that its a close fight. Also, the drivers must make best use of the tools they have available. They say that cream rises to the top. Some of the cream might be a bit sour but its still far, far better in 2012 compared to what i've seen in previous years.by slider - F1
I would like to see what Schumacher would do if he could lead from pole. Would he go backwards like the McLarens yesterday or would he do a Rosberg/Vettel and convert the pole position to a win? Trying to fight your way to the front normally kills your tires much faster than leading from pole.by slider - F1

I wonder if Massa will even last the season before Ferrari give him the boot. I also get the feeling that Mercedes may be a lot closer to the leading teams in pace. If they are, it could be a massive battle up front. I just hope its not a season when one team runs off never to be seen again.by slider - F1
I was watching the Canadian Grand Prix a few weeks back and was thinking about the car shapes, high rear wings etc and suddenly "son of a b$tch!". I've finally got used to the huge front wings on the cars. I had a look at my first post now, and realised that the first pic is better than the second pic. Took me a while but the 2009 shapes eventually grew on me.by slider - F1
Button's move on Massa was always going to fail. His subsequent plan of believing that he was ahead so that he won't have to relinquish that position was also never going to work. Howver, the stewards decision for awarding him a drive through was based on exceeding the track limits. Unless i'm completely wrong, Vettel ran clean of the track to pass someone on the outside and got awby slider - F1
"disrespectful" ? To the people that believe that discussing Kubica's replacement is disrespectful because there's a man injured in hospital, I ask the question: What would YOU do if you were the Renault Team Principal?by slider - F1
I must say that Alonso's move on Massa to take the lead was outstanding! Showed true guts and skill. The type of guts and skill you need when you radio the team and cry to them "ridiculous!" WTF!by slider - F1
Woo!Hoo! My prediction did not come true!by slider - F1
Great drive by Button. Spectacular overtaking moves by Hamilton. Hamilton must be careful that he does not turn into a spoiled brat. Kubiza was quietly quick. He sneaked in under the radar into 2nd. Webber lost the plot. Vettel needs to hand over his first born son to the Gods. His bad luck is ruining this season for him already. Overall: great race. A rule similar to Nascar must be brought in: Iby slider - F1
I think that 10th place means just that. If you are not good enough to finish any higher, for whatever reason, then tough. Rewarding mediocrity is pointless. It's like saying "we are all winners". Errr...No. We would like to be but that's the whole point of competition. We might as well bring in a "lucky dog" rule into F1 and hand out points for fastest lap, bring inby slider - F1
I was watching that Imola race and a friend who watched it with me said "We just lost Wayne Rainey (paralysed from a race crash), now we might lose Senna" Then we saw Senna's head move and thought that he was fine. We were wrong. To me, that weekend with Roland Ratzenberger dying, Senna dying and and Wendlinger getting badly hurt just before that, seemed like yesterday.by slider - F1
I hope my prediction does not come true: Alonso and Massa sort of fight for the win and Alonso takes the lead after a pit-stop mess up by Massa's crew. Vettel third. Webber fourth. Hamilton fifth and MS 6th. I fell asleep before the end of the race and didn't see who got the rest of the points.by slider - F1

I know what Piquet did was dangerous. A wheel into the crowd could have been disastrous. However, my point was that "arranging" a win is not new. This is just a newer way to get it done. When Schumacher "parked" his car at Monaco, that was just the start of things, I think.by slider - F1
What's the essential difference between Irvine/Barrichello moving over to let Schumacher win and what Piquet did? The one method is a lot more obvious than the other, that's all. Both methods ruin the sport but this type of thing is happening, all the time. Some people would say that Fisichella "allowed" Kimi past at the Spa restart because that would go down nicely at Ferrariby slider - F1
Anyone consider that McLaren had a "planned" pitstop problem? With a Mercedes engine car in 2nd, and a perfect opportunity for Brawn to continue to lead both championships....I can almost see Norbert Haug saying something about "team sport blah blah"and "woops, where those tyres go?" Anyway, jokes aside, nice drive by Rubens. Excellent pace. Shitty track though.Thby slider - F1
Alonso had Hamilton on his pace from Race 1. Maybe he should have had a clause in his contract that forced Hamilton to carry ballast and Alonso could increase this amount, race by race. If he goes to Ferrari, they should consider re-hiring Barrichello. He drives nicely without a spine.by slider - F1
Everyone does it, until they do it to you. Then it's not so easy to get over. I agree that many people do what it takes to get ahead. However, I don't do it and I never will. Therefore, I don't idolise people that use those methods to win championships. Schumacher was and still is an exceptional talent and that race in the rain in Barcelona'96 was a fine example. However, hby slider - F1
I say good riddance as well. I remember too many incidents that he was involved in that was truly shocking. Jerez '97 being the pinnacle in my opinion with Adelaide '94 not too far behind. I watched both those races and saw him win one championship and almost win another. Anyway, if he does come back it will probably be like what Mansell did when he came back from CART. A general wilby slider - F1
Pity. Nice to have seen him, Vettel and Hamilton give it a go! BTW: If Schumacher did drive in Valencia, would Kimi have moved over for him...?by slider - F1
I think Alonso always wants a team that will give him what Ferrari gave Schumacher: No1 status and a No2 driver that will roll over and beg. He did not get that at McLaren and Renault was willing to give it to him. Piquet found out the hard way that he WILL be slower, either way. People may say that this system is needed if you want to win a championship but I say that a driver should be in F1 toby slider - F1
I still find it strange that there is such a high number of incidents of "investigated after the race" that involve Ferarri. Massa driving off with the refuelling hose;, Kimi with 2 start line incidents this year...That's 3 off the top my head.Mmmmmm....by slider - F1
