It's a whole lot more about engineering than driving. The drivers must be enrolled at the uni they represent, so the majority of the field is amateur or close to it. Of course having a great driver will really help on the dynamic events (autocross, endurance, skidpad and so on), but compared to the points awarded for the design of the car itself, and the engineering behind it, the driver inf

As for the rest of the vids, you guys really put me in the f1 vibe again, and thank you very much for that

F1 Does tilke have some kind of kink-quota he has to meet with his tracks? I mean, surely having 15-20 corners that look absolutely the same has to get tiresome...

F1 Virtual lap:
Pretty much your average street circuit... lots of 90º bends, quite stop-and-go-ish... I also think that Ibirapuera would be a better place, but still, I'm quite excited about it =]

Off-Topic As of right now, it is not snowing here in Brazil. Just thought I'd let you know.
Now really, I'm very envious of you guys, I've never seen snow and probably won't until I get to uni and manage to actually travel to places...
I hear that British people suck at snow driving, so how does this affect your lives? I'm imagining utter chaos and pile-ups everywhere

Which is a good sign imho. If they're working quietly, then there are no major issues going on. I'll be worried when they start lingering on the frontpages for too long.

Only if the dog likes pizza.
Why do we have different opinions and tastes? Is it all genetic?

Off-Topic Not too happy about this one. Good riddance for Toyota, but Renault... I wouldn't like to see Kubica go next year, plus it would be one engine less on the field. Not cool. We all saw it coming though, can't say Renault is the most committed team on the grid, can we?

F1 Awesome. The more private teams, the merrier. At least we know they're there for the racing, not to sell cars.
I feel bad for Kobayashi though, I sure hope he manages to secure a drive for next year.
Now, how's the teams queue looking? Apparently Sauber has priority, is that correct? How's Prodrive?

Exactly my thoughts. As far as floodlit tracks go, it looks SO much better than Singapore, and yeah, it

Off-Topic ok. let's call the fraction that generates 0,999999... "x".
x=0,9999...
10x=9,999...
10x-x=9,999...-0,999...
9x=9
x=1
therefore, 0,9999...=1
right?

Off-Topic but if 0,99999999999999... is the same as 1, then surely 1/infinity is the same as zero. right?

GO RUBENS! yeah, good stuff, good stuff. well done to Brawn. I would really like if he won the WDC, he truly deserves it, but i share EC83's concerns: both the WDC and WCC going to the UK must be a recurring thought on Ro

F1 I'd say Robert Johnson for inventing modern blues, basically; Chuck Berry, for making rock mainstream; Jimi Hendrix, for bringing magic to guitar playing; Eric Clapton, for being an inspiration for nearly every guitarrist after him; Santana, for putting latin america on the map; Stevie Ray Vaughan (my personal favourite), for reviving the blues and taking Jimi songs one step further; more re

Off-Topic That high nose somehow reminds me of the 1999 Ferrari. Not too keen on the sidepods though. But overall the car is very beautiful, everything works together to make a very nice shape.

F1 Yes, it's better to turn it off, but I remember that the system required the starting engine to be replaced for a bigger (more resistant) one. The constant on and off action wears it that much quicker.
So I imagine that on big trafic jams or long stops it's better to turn it off, but for, say, 15 sec stops the starting engine would be too requested.

Off-Topic Some time ago, a Brazilian company (or Bosch, I'm not sure) created a system that cut the engine after idling for some time. They ran several tests and came up with six seconds of idling before cutting it. Less time and the amount of fuel used to start the car is greater than the economy of it turning off.
So, that's the magic number, 6 seconds. =]

Off-Topic So, no Petrobras, there's Santander and Embratel left (are there more?). Well, I don't see this working out very well for the Brackley team, doesn't seem like they'll last trough the season, and if they do, it's probably gonna be Super Aguri II style =/.

F1 Yes, but you have to keep in mind that the game is in alpha stage, so modding would be pointless, because every update to the game would cause mods to be incompatible.

Other Games well, is that a male reproductive organ or what?
it's also interesting to see the different solutions to the front wing, Renault's is really skinny compared to RB's.

F1 You should probably consider getting LFS too, as it is the best game for casual racing right now. For leagues, rFactor is imo a better choice because of the presence of night and day, mods and all that, but LFS has an awesome netcode, excellent physics, runs smoothly in almost any pc and good racing is guaranteed at any time of the day. So, if you're willing to put up with the shortcomings o

Other Games I actually find the new cars rather amusing, in a 'crazy-ideas-from-the-seventies' kind of way. I mean, it's nice to see new designs, completely different from one another, popping up on the test days. Next thing you know, there's a huge fan sticking out of one of them cars =P
Also, the small rear wings are worse than the huge front wings, IMO, but all in all, I think I can

F1 Also, that song isn't actually used to call people gay. I mean, that's what it says, but in reality it's used as 'regular mockery', Rubens was just messing around and being drunk. He didn't mean it in a derogatory way. And the papers don't say Massa joined the chorus, it's probably a translation mistake.
