Thanks Ferde, its good to know. Also good to have another Linux user being able to enjoy Geoff Crammond Sims for many years to comeby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4

There's a way to compete, its called F1Lapview by René Smit. The problem is I can't figure out how to load the race data into the program.by GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Try to allocate more CPU power to gp4 by adjusting its CPU affinity and priority settings in the Task Manager. GP4 physics are completely tied to the frame rate which means it can't drop frames, maybe windows isn't assigning enough CPU to gp4. Make sure to test with and without gpxpatch also, I doubt it makes a difference but you never know Did gp4 run better on your old PC?by GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
I stilo cant fine a solution. Did anyone use f1Lapview?by GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Something seems wrong then, there's no way it should be that slow with your system. I'd say something relating to compatibility is causing things to slow down. Have you tried to activate 2d sound in the sound calibration settings? The hardware accelerated sound can cause problems with performance. Also check your performance monitor to see how much free resources your PC actually hasby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Zio Fulvio, did you use gpxpatch to bind the keys?

Quoteandym I already had libgl1:i386 installed, so this doesn't change the crummy hardware performance on my machine when using GPxPatch that I get... booo! That's a shame, I hope you find a solution. There has to be an answer because my system is nothing special, I don't even have my GPU connected I'm just using the internal chip. Frankly speaking, I even prefer the softwaby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Thanks for that info Noog, I had no idea about f1graphics.cfg, I'll be sure to play around with it and hopefully I can find the appropriate solution. It's interesting you don't have that file, like you suggested it's probably got something to do with the differences between GNOME and KDE. The important thing is that its working and I agree with everything you said about havby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Thanks andym, what you explained about the i386 architecture is clear, I understand now. It's interesting that Noog doesn't have libgl1:i386 yet his Sim still runs fine, yet it seemed to be a determining factor in getting my Sim to run. There seems to be a lot of trial and error in getting this stuff to work. I wonder how well we could get the Sim to perform if we had the theoretical idby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Hey Andy, I actually fixed my issue before I got to your message. I was missing libgl1:i386 - wild speculation here but given that so many people reported that the newer wine versions broke GP4 I would't be massively surprised if this was either included by default in the past or not even required at all... I'm happy to be proven wrong though. I already added the i386 architeby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Quotenoog .....or at least until something comes along to replace GP4 forever. It's amazing really, that even today, there's still no obvious candidate. I hear you man, and frankly speaking I don't see it happening - Geoff is and always will be the king Quotenoog My CPU usage today varies, because of track differences etc, but I often see usage of 12%-18% (even at Monaco) whiby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
I wonder why wine 10 would work on manjaro but not Ubuntu... Can you remember how you configured your wine prefix? Are you using wine 10 stable? Arch like to have the cutting edge stuff or so I've been led to believe. That's a shame if it gets left behind, but frankly speaking I don't hold much hope for gp4 on windows either the way Microsoft are going. Worst case scenario Iby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Its not actually loading at all, I get an immediate direct 3d error on launch. So far I created bottles for xp, vista, win7, win10, all have the same issue. I tried installing different dependencies but its just stabbing in the dark. I haven't used playonlinux but I'll give it a try when I get a chance. I also found a Spanish video with Ubuntu and lutris, the Sim seemed to run nicelyby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Quoteandym It's obvious how much work has gone into GP3, but it's lots of incremental improvements across the board I've just been able to put some proper time into gp3 and the AI and racing is incredible, definitely a step up and a big one. The AI is far more intelligent, aggressive, and realistic, its massively impressive. GP3-2000 is probably the best and most complete Sim inby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Hi noog my distro is based on Ubuntu 22.04 jammy, very happy with how gp3 performs, its actually more stable than my old windows system. I haven't had a single crash to desktop during actual gameplay. My wine version is Wine 10 stableby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
The telemetry seems to be working now, need to do some more testing to confirm 100% because I did nothing to fix it The hot lap crashes the Sim before it loads up. As long as the telemetry works I'm not too fussed but the normal gp3 is not crashing so I'll report back if I find a fixby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Hi everyone, after I've successfully installed gp3 and gp3-2000 on Linux with the help of a fellow member, I also created a new wine bottle and installed gp4. The sim is crashing straight away, I will keep tweaking the settings and dependencies to find a solution. If anyone has any pointers that would be helpful, as the possible settings and options are vast I'm stabbing in the dark a bby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 4
Yeah I thought I had one for gp3 but maybe my memory is off, thanks evandroby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Gp3-2000 installed successfully using the same settings For some reason gp3-2000 is crashing when I try to load hot laps or view telemetry data. Its working fine in the normal gp3 do you have a similar problem?by GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Thanks brother legend Do you remember if there was a patch to elongate the replay? I remember it like a batch file you ran it in the gp3 folder and specify how long you want the replay in secondsby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
Did there used to be a patch to extend the replay up to 120 seconds? I'm sure I used to have it can someone post it if they do. Gp3video is great but is buggy and bends reality. Also I can't find gp3video anywhere its not in the downloads section at all and all the other links are dead. Can someone please post it up for me? Thanks youby GP2tifoso28 - Grand Prix 3
