The listening port is the port the program you are running uses to "listen" for a request. Like FTP uses port 20/21 Games use different ports. You need to look up in it's help file, or on the net as to what port it uses.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

No, you can't split it since each computer requires an IP address and your ISP only gives you one. I would recommend calling your ISP and seeing if they will give you a modem with a RJ45 plug and then you can buy a Router.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

ahh ok. Now I understand. The easiest way is to go buy a router. Linksys brands are the best. They will allow upto 254 computers to access the same DSL/Cable connection and share files and even printers. This is what I recommend. If not, then you need to go into the properties of the netowrk connection that s currently hooked to the modem and tell it to share this connection with otby CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

Ok, what you have is a "peer to peer" network. Removing one and adding another PC won't make a difference to your network. And, what do you want the new one to host? A game or files???by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

Do you mean you have a "domain" at home and your pc connects to that domain? And you want to stop connecting to that domain? If so, then depending on your OS (Xp, 98 etc) it will be different. Post your OS and I'll point you in the right direction.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

Most DVD ROMs will read both but it also depends on how fast the DVD was burned. MY Lite On DVD ROM can't read any DVD-R I think. Sony makes the DVD-Rs and a consortium make the DVD+R version. So a Sony brand DVD ROM will have trouble reading a DVD+R disc.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

I don't fully understand what you mean by deleting your network settings? Can you elaborate? You may also remove the TCP/IP settings in your "network neighbourhood" and reboot. Then add them again.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

They both need to be installed. They can be installed into the same folder. Remember that any settings you changed in the first install will be lost after you install it in the 2nd OS. Trust me on this as I've done it myself.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

Check the connection at the back of the TFT. (power) If you can reset the TFT to factory defaults, do so. Try it on anotehr PC to see if it does the same thing.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

I agree about IE and Windows being used more and that is why hackers flock towards it for hacking but I still believe that after using Linux adn Windows, windows has more bugs period than Linux so even if Linux was the flavour of the yr, hackers would have a harder time with it.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic

I disagree Dave. IE and Windows are full of bugs compared to Linux or Novell. The problem is MS doesn't do a good job at security until someone finds an exploit. You install Linux at home as your main OS and tell me you really need to worry about virii or hackers as much as if you were running Windows.by CDN_Merlin - Off-Topic
