I'm sure given to a different company the game would have been better...

I say give it to Melbourne House, I played Melbourne on their F1 game and it wasn't that bad!

The only decent F1 sim I've played on a console is F1 World Grand Prix 1 & 2 on the N64. WHAT A GAME.

Ah yes, I remember bringing that up about 3-4 times on GP4 forum, couple years back :P. I can't ignore also Monaco Grand Prix for the Genesis and the UbiSoft game for the Dreamcast! Formula 1 97 for PSX was pretty good too.

I've never played Monaco Grand Prix. On a scale of 1/10, how good is it? (10 being the best...)

No it wasn't it was AWFUL. YOu could just cut all the corners and the grass and gravel wouldn't slow you down at all. THe handling was also the worst I have seen just like supremely arcadey.

That was fun game (Ihave it on pc)! "Difficult" to drive and car didnt need much to get damaged.. I really liked it: 8/10 maby it isnt so good compared to gp4 or f1c but it was really good few years ago..

F1 '97 was my first proper F1 game, i loved it, especially the hands on the steering wheel, and the gradually dirtying visor. and the commentary from Martin & Murray was good, although sometimes a bit random ("the Jordan team this year are using an oval shaped air-intake. it'll be interesting to see how that affects the performance of the car". yes, very interesting Murray).

what are the podium celebrations animations like?

are all the details correct (helmet colours, sponsors, etc)? I noticed JPMs helmet is wrong, white top like his Williams helmet.

The podium animation's are good but you see them spraying champagne, you don't see them on the podium steps. All the drivers look like who they should look like.

From what I can tell at the moment they are correct although for McLaren it doesn't have "Kimi" or "Juan Pablo" on the sidepods. JPM's helmet, while white doesn't look that bad.

Realism seems to have increased too to coincide with the 05 rules, I suffered two tyre blowouts doing a full race around Montreal.

This is a good game, I recommend it to anyone. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

The Playstation 2 Magazines I read have also given it good reviews:

PSM2

While this will only ever appeal to F1 aficionados it's the package they've been waiting for. Great for hardened racers, but still excellent for novices as well. - 83% - Silver Award.

Other mags range it from 7/10 - 9/10 and in percentages anywhere from 80% - 90%.
