And my question goes about the editing of textures... can you do helmets? I didn't see it in the car file (which looks very simple to do, if yet a bit messy at first ), so I suppose it is in the likes of GP4 and F1C?

Yes you can do the helmet. It's a poor shape however, and is horribly mapped! I had an attempt at converting my GP4 one to it, and it didnt turn out quite as i'd have liked. Never mind... a new (decent) helmet shape is planned for a future S2 update patch I believe.

are we all able to start qualifying at 9:45pm then start the race at 10.00pm GMT time. As I'm racing on Sunday so have to be up early and starting the race at 10:00 would get us finished about 11.00pm GMT time

Apparently the helmet shape will get re-worked in time for S2.
As for the carset, it will be released sometime in the day, I'll post a link in this thread.
