So, I've started to build my own F1 Wheel. After looking at a
lot of inspiration and similar wheel mods (the best ones I saw are below) I've taken the best bits from all of them and combined them to make my own wheel.
The wheel is based on the McLaren Formula 1 wheels from 2007 and 2008, although I may be incorporating a display into this. It's made out of 18mm MDF wood, which is quite thick and sturdy but not too heavy. I'll use a LeoBodnar circuit board and display - the BU0386. I've also found some buttons on the internet on eBay, which I'll buy soon I hope.
The wheel itself is being sanded by me atm, I need the handles to be 'round' and 'soft' to touch.
Anyway, enough talking...some pictures!

Very very good site, although more for cockpits than wheels IMO. But a cockpit is what I plan to build next!

This guy...wow. If I can get my wheel this good I'll be over the moon.

Again, if I can get my wheel this good I'll be more than happy.

Again, second to none quality. playz is also building his wheel based on a McLaren wheel, unlike the other two which are Ferrari wheels.

Brilliant tutorial on wheel building. My only wish is that it featured more on electronics, as this is the bit I'm unsure about.

I'll be getting new knobs for some of these and will spray other ones black.

I'm also making my own comprehensive guide to building your own wheel. It will feature heavily of the electronics and the aesthetics of the wheel. Now you can all build your own wheels when it's done!
I'll post some samples of the guide throughout my wheel building experience.
I think that's all. I'll update the thread as and when I make progress.
