I loved that game, but F1 '97 was far superior :)

F1 '97 was an awesome game, nothing on console's come close since, which is a real shame.

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10; indeed, it's a common requirement in fairy tales. If the human didn't have to overcome huge odds, what would be the point? Terry Pratchett - The Science Of Discworld

I prefer it to '97.

I still play them both religiously on the PS1, (pretty much every day when at home ;)), nothing comes close to them for fun factor!
Plus you get Murray Walker commentating, and kick-ass music as well, which really adds to the games I find.
The bonus track for F1 97 is a must, if you don't know the cheat, enter a driver name as 'billy bonus' and you also get Adelaide and Aida mirrored, as well as a black and white Silverstone track

F1 97 was indeed good fun back in the day... But surely, the best thing in 1996 was GP2?!

Nah, the best one was naming the driver Box Chatter - it gave you animated martin and murrary sprites :D

Ooh, found videos of them:

Also these ones:

pi man - wipeout mode
virtually virtual - Virtua Racing mode

If Codemasters can make their F1 game as accessible and fun as F1 97 was I'd be more than happy with it.

Gary I thought of trying it on Bob's Track Builder but I am far too busy to even play videogames, big shame. Maybe I can talk Fincent into doing it ;)

I started it in BTB ages ago, got a layout done, but i've never built a track before..
When I get my dissertation finished next week I'll try to get working on it again! ;)

It'll be impossible to have the original pitlane in though ;)

That game rules so hard! First played it when I was like 6 years old. Finally got the brilliant menu tune by Joe Satriani on CD :)

On F1 '97, you could confuse Murray by messing up the race order as he was running through it. He'd get to the last one in the correct order, say 'Errrrrrrrrrr....' and then carry on :)
