Come summer 2006, GTR 2 will set new standards all over again! The new DirectX9 graphics engine ensures that the race cars and circuits are portrayed in a more detailed and photorealistic way than ever before, and the sensation of speed experienced with the HP-beasts is even more immersive, thanks to the improved driving model.

The dynamic day-night light cycle, weather changes, and impressive damage system once again provides an impressive experience of the exciting FIA GT racing series on your PC at home.

If its as good as GTL in every respect then its gonna be great

Impressive damage system? It can't get much worse than GTL can it.

Looks promising, although you'll probably need some kind of dual dual-core processor and 2 double graphics cards to run it mind!

Doesnt look as good as the engine can. There will be more games using the gMotor2 engines that are much more impressive, i'll tell you that now.

Looks a bit disappointing after GTL

i thought it look pretty much the same, with the use of lighting.

Hard to tell either way from those shots, but its not going to look any worse than GTL unless they make a monumenta fuckup

It wont look worse than GTL no, but it is using the same graphics engine as GTL. Physics engine im nor sure yet. But if it isnt using the new ISI physics engine then it will be out of date technology quickly with some more impressive games due soon

i expect that down to the fact GTL & GTR2 will out within 6 months of each other GTR2 will only be slightly different to GTL, but as i touched on in my first post, if its "as" good then thats ok with me.

I imagine that the next Simbin project will use the new ISI engine that you spoke of

No where near as good as that engine will look. Missing enviroment and bump mapping for one. Lighting is out on quite a few bits too.

Better will come ;-)

Hmm I think I might get GTL. I do wish it had old track layouts though, so I am still not sure. Instead it is not "taking you back to that time" but following the series that uses old cars :-/

Well they said it wont be out til summer so theres plenty of time to fix them, and what are these future release you've metioned?

I've noticed you mentioned these a few times, but your comments have been guarded, pray tell and spill the beans :)

Licensing was the main reason for that. Shame, but the Minis around Mondello park are amazing fun. GTL is a quality product, well worth the money. But these GTR2 screens look questionable at the moment

LS, cant say yet :) But all will be revealed soon!

This Simbin soon, or human soon? ;)

Looks... OK... damage model is exactly the same as GTR from what I can see. Bits falls off, they don't break. GP2 had that... GP1 had that to an extent.

Carmageddon2 had the most impressive damage system in terms of period... why is it completely impossible for sim-makers to develop something along those lines. I want deformation dammit!

GTL has deformation in it, i t-boned a 911 and it had a massive dent in the side, hit a gt40 hard enough and the quarter panel windows fall out

Lets not be hasty and second guess what its gonna be like

Keep an open mind people :)

GTR2s damage isn't exactly ground breaking technology from what I can see in them pictures ;)
Live for Speed has a good damage model in the making with the cars actually deforming :D

tbh GTLs deformation is poor. You hit another car at 90mph, T-bone and you get a decent dent. Realisticly the car is written off!

Need one of those Force Dynamics simulators to break your legs in an accident tbh :P
