Not strictly F1... but others too!

Oil Empires
http://oilempires.com/
Long Strategy Game. I play, very easy to learn. Requires patience, but can get vicious.

Hattrick

Fictional Fantasy Football Game where you buy players/manage your finances/play leagues/promote etc with 1000's of other users. I love it, and I hate football.

BATracer
http://batracer.com/
F1 style turn based game. Mostly about tweaking setups and making pitstop numbers really.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Welcome to the site.
There are no free F1 playable on-line games afaik. There is the Codemasters series, buy the game on disc and you have access to online play, and there is rFactor, highly moddable with community content, download and buy an unlock key. GP3 & GP4 has LAN play, but can be tricky to get it right.

thanks how do i get gp4 online that looks very good
You cannot play GP4 online, Local Area Network only. There is a topic on this within the GP4FAQ which you will find in the GP4 forum.
A crossover cable is required, which is different to a standard LAN ethernet cable used for a router, although it has identical end plugs. If you have a home network, where the two computers are connected with an ethernet LAN cable, you can use port forwarding on your router to specify a dedicated port, although a crossover cable is best for GP4 or GP3.
Google crossover cable for more info.
