Anyone ever used.........

....SiSoft SANDRA.
It was reccomended in computeractive! and i thought i'd try it. it allows you to make tweaks to your hardware, and find out there details, or summit like that. 5% left to d/load, i'll tell u what it's like in a bit

erm yeah, its more of a benchmark than tweak program!

yeah i just found that out, although it has suggested some good stuff. It told me that my BIOS settings for my Video card were too old and i should get new ones. Does this just mean download new drivers?
also it says my GFX card has 32mb of texture memory, WTF does that mean?

the gfx thingy could be AGP aperture size .. im not sure .. how much ram do you have?
as for the bios ... go to your mobo's manufactor website and d/l the latest bios for your mobo... if there is any. its called "flashing bios"

i've ot 256mb of ram.
i just installed new drivers and changed something in the BIOS, and it now says my gfx card has 32mb memory. That's gone up from 4mb, on an intel 82810!

okay, how do i find out my motherboard manufacturer?

Its an integrated gfx .. i dont know much about that, but 32MB could mean how much ram gfx card uses... like i said, im not sure.

SiSoft Sandra should tell you the motherboard model and firm... search a bit in the program

lol I found out mine (I think its the same as yours sasjag) and I have to order mine and pay for it, and then its delievered!! WTF?!

yep, that's what i just found, that is depressing. It comes with all new chips and stuff! i just want to upgrade my bios for god's sake

i just looked through this site, and found the following statement:
Award state on their BIOS page - "Do not contact Award Software for BIOS upgrades or BIOS technical support

i think "award ....." isnt what you're looking for. You can see that when you boot the pc, even on mine. Maybe you can see the mobo model during boot POST... like this:
