It's called The Chain, by Fleetwood Mac.

Edit: That wasn't a reply to Gav of course, we posted at the same time. And this Taking Dawn version is offensive to Mac and F1 fans!

i like that cover. The original (like most fleetwood mac) just sounds horrendously dated these days

rumours was the best selling album ever worldwide, so i think a lot of people must have at least liked it enough to buy the whole album

yup. i actually own it - bought it about 10 years ago. Just think now it can't stand up to itself. it's like the beatles... great in it's time, now just sounds tremendously old

If anyone's seen The Dance (Fleetwood Mac, live, 1997 - looked for it on youtube, coldn't find it), That brings the original more up to date - it's the original studio version i have issues with.

I like it. It sounds a bit more now and even though the Fleetwood Mac version is the up there in the greats. I'd actually listen to the whole song now instead of just the bassline. Even saying that though, that bassline is legendary.

That very bassline was decimated in this cover though. What they did was keep the worst part of the song true to the original while destroying the legendary outro* to a barely recognisable mush of noise.

* which is still as good now as it ever was... the first 2/3 of the original was always very average in my opinion.

They have butchered that song.

That I totally agree with. You can't even hear when the Bassline comes in. But if we're looking at it in a full song perspective, it's nice.

I hate when people say that about random high selling albums, because it's just not true.

1 - Michael Jackson - Thriller - 110m
2 - AC/DC - Back in Black - 49m
3 - Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon - 45m
[snip]
=8 Fleetwood Mac - Rumours - 40m

So Rumours probably wasn't the highest selling album of all time, assuming Dark Side of the Moon sold well in the first four years of release. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if Rumours was in fact the highest selling album of all time some time between 1979 and 1981. Bat Out Of Hell picked up in sales greatly in the early-mid 1980s so I am confident is saying that Rumours outsold Bat... in the first few years after release. Four of the other albums that have currently outsolf Rumours weren't released until several years later.

So, lets say in 1981, what was the highest selling album of all time? Rumours 1977 (possibly), Back In Black 1980 (probably not), Dark Side of the Moon 1973 (likely), Bat Out Of Hell 1977 (almost certainly not), Eagles Greatest Hits 1976 (possibly), Saturday Night Fever (possibly).
