this is the new HDT VE Commodore called the Retro One. Loosely based around a VC Brock Commodore this is HDT's first attempt of a VE Commodore. The Retro one is available in three levels of specifications GROUP I, GROUP II and GROUP III. This is just the first release of a fleet of retro-themed VE Commodores by HDT, they include a VH SS Group III, VK Group A (Blue Meanie with white wheels), and finally a VL Group A, i wonder if that comes with a polarizer, sic).

I quite like it for a new car a bit different. I Kow i'd prefer the HDT over the HSV any day

I am a ford man, but dont mind the VE, but gotta say, that looks horrible!
Its the same as Ford doing a new Cobra, looked shithouse, there is no need to bring back old cars (except the new Monaro's which were fantastic)

Just looks like another saloon car, except it's decided that it can look overweight. Not a winner IMO. Bentley Continental Flying Spur on the other hand....

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10; indeed, it's a common requirement in fairy tales. If the human didn't have to overcome huge odds, what would be the point? Terry Pratchett - The Science Of Discworld

You liked the new monaro, personally i thought it was just a two door commodore and yes why bring back a cobra the old one was best

Yeah, I liked the car, not as a monaro though. What I hated the most was that 'concept' torana they released at the motor show a few years back... thank god that never went into production...

this horrible thing

If you look at the torana on page 1... posted by torana.. the old ones had so much character, they're still a classic over here, and that new one was an insult to the name Torana

i think it was just a publicity stunt, just like the monaro 427, but @#$%& if they built that thing it would have been great for holden

Jaguar are good for doing that. They show off some stunning conceps and then don't make them :( The XK180 is a prime example. OK, you'd need to change the windscreen to put it in production (Clarkson described it like looking at the world in fast forwards through the bottom of a milk bottle), and the exhausts might need some tweaking so you can't hear the thing in Kent no matter where in the country the car actually is. But it's a stunning car made by Jaguars Special Vehicle Operations.
