I was just curious as to what
most Europeans think of nascar
personally I find it very boring.
can't understand how people watch
cars going round and round for
490 miles then asprint to the finnish

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

I love it ;-)

I really dont understand the "driving round and round" comments which seem oh so common. Why is a left hander on an oval any different to a left hander on a normal track? And its really not just "driving in circles" otherwise F1 becomes "driving around a car park" or "driving around a forest". :)

never used to "like" nascaww, guess I hadn't given it a chance really. but this year I'm getting into all kinds of american motorsport, cos it's just so damn good.. good racing, some action, good for the fans. can't complain.

It's actually awesome once you start following it. If you have no idea what's really going on, it can be dull, but it's great racing once you get under the skin of it.

Have to agree with Zcott, I've made a more conscious effort this year to follow and understand Nascar, and it's paying off, really enjoying it.

I used to watch the freeview highlights on NASN last season but they've stopped now :(

An hour highlights is my limit at the moment. I can enjoy that, but I couldn't see myself watching a live race at the moment.

Can't grumble about the quality of racing though.

Nascar is Just awsome, granted im not "european" but its definatly not mainstream here, road racing is.

You know people say this "going round is circles" crap really annoys me, you know why? over this just gone weekend, i watched the Nascar Busch Race at atlanta, which was 300 miles, I watched the Nascar Nextel Cup race which was 500 miles, and if i had coverage to the truck race i would have watched that to, but i dont. anyway thats 800 miles!! of racing i watched, and every single lap was good, the drivers actualy know how to pass, they run side by side through the corners, wheel to wheel and arent afraid to have a go at racing.

I watched 1 Formula one race, No qual, just the race, Now its 300kms (whats that 180 miles?) i was bored out of my brain, all F1 is is follow the leader. yawn. Not much passing, the race was a stratagy race. wow. if i wanted to see stratagy pan out, i could calculate it in my head. last season i saw about 3 F1 races, and 36 Nascar Cup races, and 50% of the Busch series races. (so about 15).

"An hour highlights is my limit at the moment."

That's a good point,it takes a lot of willpower to suit through 3+ hour races especially with the 1st hour being largely meaningless.

I've never really properly got into Nascar but I'm gonna start to, I've recorded every highlight program which has been on every Tuesday Night on Channel 5 (Not on tonight for some reason :-o) But haven't had time to watch them yet! Have to get round to it and watch them :)

tbh alot of people who don't watch F1 just say its a load of cars going round and round, its more likley the person dosn't get into it hence dosn't appreciate it, hence they just judge's the book by its cover :)
