My actual phone has more or less the same features of this

and it's not working very good.

So, if I have to buy a new phone, why not an Android phone?

Given my very low budget I've been around some shops and that's what I came up with:

[1] Alcatel OT-991

[2] HTC Explorer

[3] LG Optimus L3

[4] LG Optimus L5

[5] Samsung Galaxy Ace

[6] Samsung Galaxy Chat

[7] Samsung Galaxy Gio

[8] Sony Xperia Mini

[9] Sony Xperia Tipo

They all have Pros and Cons: 1 probably is not an high quality manufacturer, 2 has lowest CPU performance, 3 and 4 have not so good display, 5 is slightly more expensive, 8 is said to overheat and have low battery performance.

Future upgradability would be nice (e.g. ICS compatibility) and customization (like custom roms, even if not immediately after buying it).

So (you probably understood it long ago) which one should I buy (or not) and why (or why not)?

Looks nice (even if it has only 600 mHz CPU) but I don't think ZTE it is available here in Italy (at least, I didn't see it).

I have a Galaxy Ace and I wouldn't recommend it, though I don't know if it's just a cheap smartphone issue or this one is particularly screwed up. When I had a not-so-smart phone all basic tasks - contacts, messaging, settings etc. - would start up real quick, almost instantly, whereas with this I have to wait sometimes 3-4-5 seconds to enter contacts, another 3 to go to the contact I'm looking for and another 2-3 to get the call started, which can get very annoying for the easiest damn task really. On the other hand, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter start up relatively quickly, which makes me wonder why the hell don't they just build a small Nokia 3310 into the phone to deal with the stuff I would actually like to use quickly and let the rest of the phone struggle with the rest..

I tried a Galaxy Ace of one of my friends and even if it wasn't as annoying as you describe it was a bit laggy, probably cause it has low RAM memory.

I have that one and bought it with 30$. Upgraded to ICS and it flies (sometimes crashes but all in all it's a good buy).
