Why

do people have pictures of their kids as their profile pictures on Facebook?

So annoying. It defies the whole point. Did they ask their kids first?

I've wondered this as well - it makes no sense to me. I think that if said kids aren't old enough to make and run their own Facebook account, then photos of them shouldn't be displayed publicly.

Perhaps I'm just getting old, but it's something to be proud of. It's not an achievement as such, it's not something you've worked on, and I've only ever logged onto Facebook as an 11 year old girl, but still... who wouldn't want to show off their kids? It's a big part of your life.

It's not as though any of our avatars here have photos of ourselves in them, is it?

/me proposes new idea for a rule to Stephan.

It's nearly as annoying as people who make FB accounts for their dogs...

Hmm yeah true. But Facebook is meant to be our personal portal kinda thing... if you're into it and you use it.

Whereas on here we all hide behind our monikers to anonymously troll and trash sub-par racing drivers

Yeh but a profile picture is supposed to be of you really, especially on Facebook. No-one else wants to see your kids lool, but then you could say no-one else wants to see you ;p so it works out both ways I suppose
