I'm doing a 2002 driver performance file.

It took me a while to get accurate data such as avg. gap to pole postion, avg. finnish positions, retirements, BHP of each team, etc.

I'm just putting it through a few simulations and then I will mail it to those who are interested.

I use the physics file from that big 2002 update.....can't remember the author's name. It needs to be edited, due to the fact that he increased the RPM to 18 000, which results in some cars running out of fuel on the last lap.

Post your e-mail addresses here if you want my 2002 driver performance file. Comments will also be appreciated on it.

Why don't You use my specific or generic 2002 performances with magic files, physic file, perf texts and Gpxpatch?
You find them on this site

I will hopefully have it finish on Friday. It takes time to run it through the whole season and I need to do this a few times.

I'm trying to keep the driver's performance realistic, but not too predictable and keeping the playability as well.

Although Michael is probably going to win 10 out of the 10 simulations, there can be tough competition from Rubins, Montoya and even Kimi. If one look at the real 2002 season last year you can see that Kimi could have been right up there, if all his failures had hit David instead of him.

In other words the "what ifs" is part of my 2002 performance file.

I will mail it to those e-mail addresses that appear on this post until Friday.

*Please use carset creator to export it and give me you comments on it. I might just revise my performance file.

Are You making FANTASY 2002 performances, or REALISTIC?
Realistic are just prepared....And You find them on this site.
Why are wasting your time?

Hi nicol@cciarri

It's a realistic 2002 performance file.

I realize that there is other performance files out there, but please give me a chance as well to contribute to this great game.

I'm also doing this, because I wasn't 100% happy with the existing 2002 performance files out there and I wasn't sure where they got their information from.

These are for example the real avg. gap to pole position for 2002 drivers:

Michael Schumacher 100.150
Rubens Barrichello 100.415
Ralf Schumacher 100.603
Juan Pablo Montoya 100.666
Kimi Räikkönen 101.239
David Coulthard 101.344
Jarno Trulli 101.972
Jenson Button 102.175
Nick Heidfeld 102.267
Giancarlo Fisichella 102.463
Felipe Massa 102.565
Jacques Villeneuve 102.637
Olivier Panis 102.728
Mika Salo 102.818
Eddie Irvine 103.153
Allan McNish 103.195
Heinz-Harald Frentzen 103.287
Pedro de la Rosa 103.335
Enrique Bernoldi 104.048
Mark Webber 104.253
Takuma Sato 104.640
Alex Yoong 106.103

I tried to stick to this. Some of the other performance files, the time gaps between pole and last place are to close, a gap of about 2.5sec.

I also used real data for the retirement rate of each team.

These are just a few data that I've been working with. Things like the ability range come from my own perspective on each driver and looking at what their best and worst position was. The fact that Sato didn't achieve much until Suzuka makes it difficult to strike a good balance, but that is why I'm running it through a few sims.

I will realy try and send it Friday. I don't like to brake promisses.

Enjoy the Melbourne race this weekend...........I can't wait.

Hi guys

As promised I have finished the performance file. I wanted to run more simulations, but I just didn't have the time and my GP4 has also started to "crash to desktop". I think its because my cars.wad file is getting to big with all the new carshapes out there.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the results I got.

You guys are wellcome to give some comments.

It should be in your mailbox by the time you read this.

Enjoy

rooikappie mailed to me and say this:
PS. I include the physics file, because Variante Ascari wants it. If
you guys use it just go and make sure you don't run out of fuel in the
Indianapolis track. If you don't the rest of the tracks should be save.

LOL!!! :) thanks anyway!!!

Hi
I understand every people is trying to personalize his game, and I encourage every attempting to improve some file that is just prepared.
But I want clarify some things: my performances are realistic also in gap distances in qualify. I calculated , for every race, with realistic data these gaps ( Remember that You should use percentage gap, and not time gap...).Remeber that, although You put 0 in range ability there will be always a variability in results...You will never obtain exactly the same grid as in reality; but in my performances there is a small approximate value.
In my performances I considered also ( in magic data ) real pitstops strategy and failures ). Of course, also for these factors, as You know, there will be ever a variability....Furthermore, I prepared also, for every track, a setup....I improved default physic file, but remember that fuel consumption can be only optimized in magic files.
Anyway, I like performance work, and therefore epolpe trying to improve this field.
Have a nice work...Don't give up.
Good luck

Just export it with Carset Creator. To get it then in txt format you will then have to import the data that you just exported, using the performance editor. Then you can save it as a txt file from the performance editor.

Or you will have to wait untill Monday. Then I will send you a txt format of the performance file.

Just let me know.
