I think ATi radeon 9700 pro is the best. But if you realy have a lot of money to spend, wait for GeForce FX.

AMD64 3400+ (running at 2,66ghz atm ;))DDR400 1gb(running at 433) Asus K8N-E Deluxe mobo, 6800ultra, Tagan tg-480w, Audigy 2Zs, Logitech Z-5500 speakers
Using X-aser Lanfire case with 5 fans inside cathodelights etc included aswell :P

I would imagine it is the Radeon 9700, although the Gf4 Ti's are very good too

I have a GeForce4 Ti 4200 128mb and I am now CPU limited

The GeForce FX cards are actually out now apparently, but I would wait for the Gainward ones because they have cut the noise down to 7db. Before it was apparently around 30db!!!!

I have read that the geforce fx has been cancelled and they are shifting their focus to the nv31,34 and 35.

Yeah, ive heard that one too. I think its because of the vast amount of heat the card produces, and therefore noise from all the fans. Not to mention it needs a PCI slot too. Its probably because its an old design or something.

I've got the 440MX 64Mb card and they are Ok but if your going to spend $80 then I would pay a bit more and get a graphics card that is built around games (not the $400 ones!! (unless you can afford it!?!?))

I have a P4 2.4, 512mb RAM with the graphics card and get 26fps with most detail on medium to high!

GeForce MX series isn't that good. Why don't you try a Ti 4200 64MB

GeForce MX series isn't that good.

see, lots of ppl say that, but thats so wrong. It is that good, just not as good as the Ti series. I have 1.2ghz, GF4 MX 440, and i run GP4 1024 res with everything else of full (cept Heat Haze). I run F1 200x about the same and games like Ghost recon at 1024 res with 90% of details to high

It's not wrong if you compaire an MX card with a Ti card. MX cards are not bad, just not as good as Ti cards

People often compare the GF4 MX cards to the GF4 Ti cards, but you cant. You compare the GF4 MX cards to the GF2 MX cards. They are faster than the GF2 ones, but slower than a GF3, and also have a lot less features. So it goes:

GF2
GF4 MX
GF3
GF4 Ti

Also note 2nd hand GF3 cards are cheaper than GF4 MX's if your buying a new video card on a low budget.

..What about power supplies for cards? (psu), i hear that the radeon 9700 needs a 300 watt supply as minimum. well, what watt will a geforce ti 4200 need? or a ti4600? - I'm getting a pc soon, but don't think it will have an high watt psu on it for a radeon at least, but what about a geforce ti 200? will a 200 watt (for example) be enough for that?
