needs help...

i down loaded GP4 master
i extract it to a certin file but when i try to use the programe
they put(ivailed gp4 path...plz configure)
then i try to but it dosn,t work
when i abort (Gp4master cannot be run with out specifing gp4 path
so is there anything i can do by downloading or some thing
i hope u replay as soon as possible

Tell me, what version of GP4 are you using? Have you applied the 9.6 patch to version 1.02 or is it just GP4 straight out of the box (v.1.00)?

well hakkinenf1 is the title of my site
to be honset where i live i don,t know alot about the numbers of the virsion
so i am goning for GP staright
i extracted the gpmaster into GP4 files but still the same problem
so when i difene the place of gp4.exe in the inforgrams grandprix file
i get a list with an ok button below thise list contains words like (extracting erroe)and things like that
i have applied thise patch (GPxPatch)
form thise site i took
it worked
and how can i know if i am using the right decrypted gp4.exe ???
where i can find things like that
so thise what i know i only got the game 3 day ago
and i am just daying to get the new cars into thise wonder game

You need to install the game. Don't mod or change anything yet. Download and install the 9.6 patch. Go into the credits menu in the game. If it says version 1.02 then you have done it right and can proceed. Then download the nocd patch version 9.6 or 1.02 FROM THIS SITE. rename the old gp4.exe to gp4-old.exe. Plant the new exe in the same folder. Install whatever you need and you are ready to go.

a little personal remark from me: if you have gp4 only for 3 days, dont bother about new cars or editors. i'd recommend you spend a few days just driving lap after lap. gp4 is awesome right out of the box. keep the fun of editing it for later.

do this:

check if gp4.exe is read only or f1gstate.sav

check if any other program is using it. if it still does it then it means gp4master opened it and forgot to close the file :P (this must be when checking the file version)

Well you said what the problem was yourself. The patch isn't installed correctly. Most people get baffled by the fact that you need to EXTRACT the patch before you apply it.

If I am not mistaken the name of the patch file is "GP4_patch v9.6.exe". This is a Winzip Selfextractor. Run it, AND DO NOT EXTRACT TO YOUR GAME FOLDER! Guide the extractor to a temporary folder. Like "c:\extracted patch\".

Then you go into this folder and you will see that the extractor created a new folder in there. The patch is now "C:\extracted patch\GP4_patch v9.6\". Go into the GP4_patch v9.6 and run the "Setup.exe" file, and if necessary point it to you game folder. As I can see from the post above that would be "C:\PROGRAM FILES\INFOGRAMES\GRAND PRIX 4\".

Now the patch installs by itself. Test that it is properly installed by starting up the game and looking in the credits menu. YOU NEED it to say version 1.02. Otherwise the game in NOT patched, and you are stuck on this step of the proces, until the game is properly patched. When it is patched proceed as described above in the previous post.

so as i understood from u words i don,t need to have 1.2 version to make say version 1.2 right????
and there is afile missing above wich is gp4tools

1) If you just install the game as you have bought it you will have ver. 1.0

2) If you install the patch CORRECTLY (as described by Morbid) you have ver. 1.02

If you want 2) DO NOT SIMPLY extract the patch to your GP4 folder, but extract the patch to any folder (C:\Temp for example). Now run the setup.exe from the TEMP folder. Now you have successfully patched the game to ver. 1.02

i have to patches
gpxpatch
and 9,6 patch
i didn,t find the files u said it will apear
when i use gpxpatch it workes but the version number still the same
and when i extract the 9,6 ptach it only give me afile and a short cut to the game with dosnt work
there is 9,60 patch file made by microprose is thise the one
the one wich 5721 kb
and remember my problem is with the path not patch of gp4master

Yes, we are taking about the official microprose patch.

GpxPatch is something different. It is a useful tool that offers you possibilities the game itself does not offer.

There is one thing that you don't seem to grasp here. This proces that you need to complete to use Gp4 Master is liniar. It is like a flight of stairs. If you have not completed step 3, then no matter what you do, then you cannot go to step 4.

You will only be able to use Gp4 Master, when you have patched the game correctly. There is no other solution.

So, please try and get the patch to work. Sorry to say it, but we simply cannot help you if you don't.
