After the demise of the original GPG Nations Cup, I have decided to take the reins and start afresh. There are a few ideas to be set in stone, but the Gist of the new rules of this championship is as follows:
FormatThe championship is an offline championship. Team owners choose the performance levels of their cars, based on their own personal strategies, and the races are run on the PC of the Race Director, with a full race review posted to the GPG Forums
The ChampionshipThe championship will take place over a full season of circuits - 17 locations designed to test drivers to the limit
The TeamsThe championship will consist of 22 teams. Each team MUST be themed on a nation of the world - either the owner's home nation, or one they like for some reason. Multiple cars of the same nation ARE allowed as long as they are owned by different owners, and have different drivers.
The DriversThe Driver names are a free choice. Real drivers/drivers whose names are relevant to the countries would be preferred, but this is not essential
CarshapesSubject to agreement - any single seater carshape can be used - however, f1 carshapes are be limited to pre 2001 shapes or 2009/10 shapes. (just so they don't look silly together - this rule open for discussion). It would be preferable if said carshape has an accompanying template (so taht in the case of a team owner being unable to paint his/her own car, somebody else might easily take up this task. All shapes MUST be in the public domain, and must be unmodified from their original downloaded state.
LiveriesThe livery of each car must be relevant to the nation the car represents. Limited sponsor logos are allowed, however, they must be of decent taste, and the company must be based, or heavily related to the nation of the car (ie, a UK car might have Yorkshire Tea as a sponsor for example, but not Sony). Each car's livery must be unique, and identifyable. Each livery must also carry the car's number, which in this first season will be allocated by order of entry to the championship.
Car PerformanceEach car will have the same performance, set using the performance file.
Driver PerformanceThis is where the team owner can really make a difference to his/her fight for the championship. Each driver will be given the same Base performance (level to be decided pending some research by myself). Each owner will be assigned a set number of 'performance modifier points' for the whole season. It is up to the owner to allocate these points to his/her driver for qualifying and for the race. A Maximum performance level will be set to avoid a large disparity in the performance for a session. The performance level for each driver will be sent to the race director via PM up to 24 hours before the race is due to run.
Race WeekendThe race weekend will consist of a qualifying session and a race session. Lengths to be decided. Points will be awarded according to the current FIA points system.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's all for now. Any comment on the above, please post below. If you wish to sign up for this, let me know either by PM or in the thread. Also if someone wishes to help out either with painting, or with race directing, let me know as well.
