Just wandering if someone could give me advice on this.

I run gp4 on a pentium2 450mhz, 192mb ram, windows2000, tnt1-16 mb.
I know this doesnt match the p3-500 which is seen by the developers as the
minimum specs machine but it works although with all settings @ minimum and 640x480 resolution.
I really like the game by what ive seen sofar, although i have to be honest
that in alot of situations the framerate drops dramatically, so here are my questions:

1. Is it smart to invest in a geforce 4 mx440 (i can get 1 for 50 euro) or
wouldnt that make any difference in framerate cos the p2/450 is just too outdated anyway.

2. how do i measure po?

Btw great forum, ive been a reader for ages and decided it was about time to start participating:)

The new card might help a little but you should upgrade the motherboard and cpu.Press o to get the po.

Although a GF4 MX would help, GP4 relies on the processor more than most games do. You'd be much better off buying a Duron and Celeron if your on a budget. You'll probably need a new motherboard too, but all this shouldnt cost more than £100 if you find very good deals.

As to your next question, press "O" in game to view your PO. It isnt very accurate though as the indicator takes up a lot of PO. Your best using Fraps to measure your framerate and set the graphics based on that.

I know what it's like aikon, this pIII 450 really sucks ass. Haven't played GP4 for ages though. I got a GeforceTi4200, it makes a difference but until my upgrading is complete then it is minimal. Go for a processor/mobo upgrade if you can afford it. I can't!!!

Like I said, a processor mobo upgrade should be about £100 on a tight budget, which is only about £50 more than a GF4 MX and would give better performance increase. The next thing you'll need though is a video card and your system will be a lot better still!

Sadly, all this costs money.
