if i hadn't noticed.... with all those neat rendering effects such as bump mapping, reflections, and shadows etc.... have Geoff and his team forgot one thing ????

if there are shadows...wheres the light source coming from?
...has anyone noticed theres no sun, just a clear sky with some clouds
"what the?"

this should have been included

[uk.playstation.com]

adds to the realism with sun flares and shadow direction effects.

You can enable sun flare in the graphic config file.

Also, the shadows do have a direction. There is (in GP2 and 3, so presumabley GP4) a light source. This can be edited in GP2/3 in track editor, and controls the shadow direction presumably.

But that sun doesn't look realistic at all. It looks plain stupid.

If you really want a sun, if you could find the sky textures you might be able to 'edit' one in.

it' because you can only see them in onboard but non cockpit views and the effect might not be called lens flare but fade in/out effect.
You will see it in any tunnel (Monaco obviously) and it will fake a dazzle (Not too bad effect at all).
Too bad that it doesn't work in cockpit view (it can be done tweaking separate alpha for cockpit and external cams but in that case, global alpha is a bit worst).

"Ahh, much better. Reduced heat from the sun."

it can be done in cockpit view, just edit the f1graphics.cfg to make the vaule 3 for lense flare

hmm, it maybe works now with 1.02 but it wasn't with 1.00 without changing alpha values (or i didn't understand anything at those silly codes like "133" :)
