Graphics

Guys,

I'm a newbie to this so I'm sorry if this has been asked before...

I'm currently running Win XP, 256 MB RAM, 1 GHZ AMD with Geforce 3. I find the graphics are so slow - even at lower resolutions. Is there anything I could do to try and speed them up?

OKay...the game is slow, not the graphics

In Windows, reduce your sound accelration. If you're a computer newbie all round, follow this:

Start - Control Panel - Audio properties - Advanced - Acceleration

Reduce the slider bars to minimum.

In Gp4.....

Reduce the resolution
Reduce the details

I have the 40.71 installed.

OKay yeah probably stick with them - altho the 40.xx's hate all my games.

The other thing, and it probably is this - GP4 is just a poor game in terms of performance. We're hoping for a patch to sort this out, or just a very very very very decent GP5. YOu'll just have to reduce some of the sumptious details

Or....copy and paste information on a site that I will try and find and post here. It contains the same info that is on your graphics.cfg file in your GP4 folder, and will auto reduce grphics and bump up the speed of your game dramatically.

(Other forum members, anyone remember the link to Alan's infmaous graphics.cfg file page?)

I just installed the new 40.72 beta and it seems to work just fine!!
Gave me another 65 points on 3dmark

As of now the light at the end of the tunnel is switched off -untill further notice- The Management.

I get almost 10 fps(!!!!) more with the 30.82 under Win98 than with those 40.71. The funny thing is, the higher the resolution, the better the fps. I have now 1200x1024. I get 45 fps with 30.82, but only 36 with 40.71.

Or Nvidia has aimed these drivers at 3dmark...or this is another weird behaviour of this game!

i just installed the 30.someting and theres no difference :S (the only one i can see is when the monitor changes res, it doesnt make a noise any more)
