Yep, as I thought with the rumours of GP4 on the X-Box being canned earlier this week, there's now news that Inforgrames is shutting down the Microprose offices that created the game, so I guess that's it, any thoughts?!

Damn!

But.....this might be good news. Does that mean Infogrames are dropping the gpx series? If it does they could go elsewhere and make gp5 the kind of game gp4 should, and could have been.

maybe that is the main reason for the game being released that way..

in Portugal we use to say: "in a house where there is no bread, all discuss and no one has the reason.." (it matches in portuguese eheehe ;-) )

Dove non c'è pane tutti discutono e nessuno ha ragione LOL
We say the same here!
Infogrames UK and GPx series are running out of bread, definitely :(

According to this story (link below), all employees have accepted redundancy so I guess we've now had the one and only patch for GP4..

hopefully geoff will find a better partner to help him develope his grandprix series, he did a good job when he was with microprose

be interesting to find out what sort of pressures geoff was under to rush out a product that was clearly not finished properly.

i expect something will be said

i tell you what might be good news if it happens though, now that ISI have said that they are'nt to continue with the EASPORTS F1200X franchise, that leaves the FIA sanctioned rule about online play open for negotiation again (providing EASports have'nt tied the deal up for a certain amount of years.

maybe Easports could do a deal with crammond?

also something i read in PCGamer made my blood boil in regard to the FIA ( and Trev may be able to back me up on this one)

in the eye witness section under simulation games, jason bradbury wrote the following

"lastly we were hoping to bring you a fully working demo of GP4 on a future issue. If infogrammes can persuede the F1 governing body that demo's of F1 games should be allowed on magazine coverdisks (in the way EA just did for their F12002) then crammond should be able to make one. fingers crossed..........................."

what was the reasoning then by the FIA to block this move? (unless of course EASports paid a lot of money for their license & online play, including exclusivity when releasing a demo)

sadly i think i may have answered my questions :-(

*Adds Infogrames to list of companies he feels need a AT-7 through their letterboxes....*

That's annoying, I really liked MicroProse UK. I have many games by them. Plus now the future of Grand Prix 4, and possibly of all Grand Prix games looks potentially screwed... (?)

Bastards...

I understand the team has remained composed to create a proper patch.

I think when GC made the agreement with the FIA, he got screwed with to many limitations on the license.
