DDhelp problem GP4

hoi gamers

i have a problem whit a "DDHELP"-file from C:/windows ????

i know it is from DirectX

i have 8.1 installed

but also whit a lower version the problem stays

some times after 10 min. or after 2 hours , i get kickt out of the game , whit the notice that it came from "DDHELP"
the only option is to close
so it is game over for me

and i can start again

my sys = P1 - 400Hrz - 256Mb int. - 600Mb swapfile - 32Mb AGP Nvidia GeForce2 MX 400 .

my graphics are modefied to keep my systeem "smooth"

but still the problem remains
am i the only one ?????
is there someone whit a solution ?????

hebben er meer mensen last van een "DDHELP" bestand uit C:/windows ???
die gewoon midden in het spel alles stopt ?????
soms na 10 minuten soms na 2 uur
maar je bent wel ff alles kwijt
dus weer opnieuw starten
nu ben ik echt wel GP-gek maar ik race "full-distance" en als je dan na 2 uur racen alles voor niks hebt gedaan , dan is dan flink balen
en dus ook minder genot van de game

heeft iemand dit ook al ervaren ????

is er soms al een oplossing ?????????

Very probably the problem will fix by itself if you reinstall Windows: radical but it should work. Clearly there should be something that got corrupted in your OS.

this is a indeed a directX related conflict, to be more precise: a direct draw conflict. As you have already said your Dx8.1 does somehow not get along with the older ddhelp version. There are three things you can do:

1. Run directX diag and see which files do cause problems, make a back up of these files and delete them. Reinstall Dx8.1 and the problem should be gone with the wind.

2. Go to "start -> search" and look for "ddhelp*.*". Make a backup of these files, delete them and reinstall Dx8.1.

3. Get some Dx Uninstall programme from the net, use it and reinstall Dx8.1.

I would go for option 2 if you ask me, since it is
a) simple
b) you said it was only ddhelp related
c) It worked in my case.

DON'T FORGET BACKUPS!!!

okay, don't get impatient, boy.

Does the game just kick you out or is there an error message? If yes, do copy and paste it into the search bar of "google". If it is a documented error you are bound to find some sites where they know the answer to your problems.

it's a "DDHELP"-file/.exe that stops the game, no matter where i am in the game .
i get a error message , i can't look at the details , i can only press OK


i have searched my sys
and i got back that it's located at C:\windows\system and C:\windows\SYSBCUP
the are both 31Kb in size
also it's a Ddhelp.exe file ?????????

You must delete the ddhelp.exe from the system folder. The backup folder is just for ... well, backups. DX does it when installing itself. Trust me. Rename ddhelp.exe in your system folder to ddhelp.oldexe and run Dx install again.

yes, start windows in save mode. (chose "save mode" when your PC boots. If no bootmenu shows while booting, press f4 or F8 (I can't remember what) just after switching the comp on until boot menu appears)

last night i refreched my drivers for the videocard

re-installed directX 8.1

and played for 3 hours whitout problems ??????? BIG

but that happend before

so i'm not sure that the problem is fixed

so now i will delete/rename in safe mode

run d-X 8.1 again

i will keep you up to date

now i have been in safe-mode and renamed

reinstaled DirectX 8.1 ( dutch )

is it correct , that after a new instal of DirectX
i don't find that same file back again in : C:\Windows\system ?????
( it stays in C:\Windows\SYSBCKUP ) ( i know ( it's there for ..... up )

and played again for a few hours BIG

i think that the little man inside my computer
who kicked me out , is gone
at leased i hope he's gone

so far , so good
