Actually I don't think that Processor speed is that important. See the other thread on this forum for details as to why.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

I've done a lot of this lately, but:

£64 inc VAT

£74 inc VAT for the MX440, a better card.

£80 inc VAT for GeForce 2 Ti (could be faster....LS said his outran a friend's MX440 GF4)

GeForce3 Ti200
[www2.novatech.co.uk];

£92.83 inc VAT (If you can stretch to this, its your best bet)

Spikeman, tell your parents the following reasons why a good graphics card is needed:-

1) Improves the internet. Everything looks sharper, and so on (not true, but don't worry)

2) Microsoft word will load faster

3) The powerful graphics card will improve the computer's speed, cos it takes strain off the processor.

4) Will mean less upgrading is needed, because of number 3

5) Extra RAM, so everything loads faster.

6) Do you have a scanner? If yes, then larger images can be scanned in, less system "slowdown"

7) DON'T mention better gaming as your main reason.

GREAT idea.

If I do well in my exams, can WE get a new graphics card?

"we" is very important here.

spikeman: opening 1 side of the case wont do anything, but you dont really need to open it, look at your M/B's manual ;)

Spikeman, open case (unplugged, of course), earth it by touching it with a pencil or something, then there is no static.
