*edit*
I turned this thread into the WSC'89 mod cars thread to keep our forum nice and tidy ;-)

Now that the word is out about the WSC '89 mod, I think it's time to start my own thread about my Group C cars.

Two months ago I was asked by Mark (MarioB) of I would be interested in building one, maybe two cars for a WSC mod that he and Tony were planning. I said yes and started immediately on the beautiful Sauber Mercedes C9. It became a fairly hi-poly model with about 20.000 polys. The detailed engine and the cockpit exists of 3000 and 4500 faces resp.

It was hard to keep this all a secret, although clicking on my sig would reveal a lot already ;) Here are a couple of renders I made during the process of building this car.

You can find an overview of the building of this car here.

The car will be mapped and painted by Tony and will be part of the first release of the mod together with the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez (Ciudad de México). The wheels for all the cars are being modelled and painted by my good friend Ulf (Alesi_fan).

Last week I started on the most used car in the series: the lovely Porsche 962C. Here's the first render:

Again you can follow the progress on my site. Here's the direct link. I will post my updates in this thread.

If you have hi-res to mid-res pictures of the Porsche, especially of the tech stuff (brake discs/suspensions/engine etc) feel free to pass them onto me, you can send me a PM or email or add my MSN nick. Please don't put too much of these pictures in this thread so we can keep this a clean topic ;-)

For questions and more info about the WSC '89 mod please visit this thread or go to grandprixX.com.

Time to hijack Erik's thread and show something I've done for this MOD! The Aston Martin AMR1! :)
Thanks to Erik for his C9 and for letting me borrow a couple of parts from it. And to Tony, who will care of mapping and painting this one! :)

Fantastic work, Diego, a real masterpiece...

Indeed last week David Leslie died by a plaincrash together with Richard Lloyd.
Maybe by building these cars (AMR1 and the 962) is a great tribute for these guys.

Grtz

Mark
