P.O. Problem!!

Im playing standard Gp4 on windows XP with all the updates and GPX. When I start a race the p.o is fine but after a couple laps it goes up to %300 and obviously becomes unplayable.

What could be causing this as a couple weeks ago it was totally fine.

Cheers in advance for any help.

Alastair

Processor heating may be causing this.

Check if your processor is getting enough air, if the fans aren't dirty, things like that.

cheers for that mate. I got to do two 10% races with a load of programmes turned off. It was only at the start of the 3rd race I did that it played up.

Well, i had the same problem, in a race, the PO was from 100 to 350, and then i found the problem, textures size.
I resized all my cars and helmets to 1024x1024, 1,32mb each. and then, 80% of PO, and this with an 6800xt 256mb. this fix my problem, you can try it. :)

Yes, I guess the windows updates causes the performance loss. I updated my system regularly. In former times GP4 runs fluently. Now it is realy slow. It only seems to run well with disabled audio hardware accelation.

weird thing is im on windows XP pro with no updates (for a secret reason ;)) and im playing standard Gp4, so I dont see how this problem can suddenly occur?

But say it is the texture size, how can I easily reduce them?

lol a Nvidia MMX400 its around 5 and a half years old. Gp4 is pretty much the only game I play on the PC so maybe the card is failing?

Start, Run, Msconfig. You get a Microsoft dialog box and you can stop certain things from running on startup.

When I got GP4 I had a PC that was way to old. But I knew I would get a new PC those days so in the meantime I asked a friend if I could play on theirs

Well, indeed after like 5 laps I got the same problem like you, but then I tried to press ESC and save the race. When I got back on track after I pressed 'Back to cockpit' (or something) the PO was all fine again..

Well, maybe thats a temporary solution..

I don't know anything else
