I tend to make an 2000 MOD if I'm free
all by myself

so it may take a long time.

tonight I tried to modify my high detailed F1-2000 to normal poly and got such result.

Talk to Wazz (I think), I'm sure he will let you use his Hi-Res helmets if you ask nicely.

that far from being made , I just want to know how much I can do with only by myself.

the main fact i use high poly is for reflection
I found it's not easy to control the polycount around 6000 , after I added the latest cockpit , it rised to 9000

@EnjoZ

I really want to see you can REALLY manage the polycount as you promise: It is very doubtful with your previous works. Good luck, and hope to see a fine 2000MOD, someday.

To be honest Enzojz, I think you can do it with 6000. 2003 season had on average 4000 or so polys and the cars are lovely. 2000 season shouldn't be too demanding, I believe, and maybe you could reduce the cockpit's polys?

Anyways, I think you should go for it and ask for help if you need, we'll help :)

For F1-2000 ,the polycount may be a little high coz the sidepod is very curved.Don't doubt my ability of controling the poly , coz in my previous works I added some poly in order to make the reflection looks better . What I want to is to found a balance between better looking and poly cost , it will be interesting.

why not make a lod_0 with and without the cockpit and other non essential things?

No it's not. If you are referring to the nose to sidepod conection, it's a bit curvy yeah, but that won't eat as much polys as the 2005 cars do. The sidepod itself is very straight...

now I put them around 7800 with new simplzied cockpit.

@Joe_Satriani
you are wrong , the sidepod of F1-2000 is one of the most curved I have ever seen , very complex.

one thing I'm sure is that I will certainly throw realistic engine away , it doesn't looks realistic at all after crash.

i agree. it looks good in renders, but 5000 or more unseen polys is too much.

Yeah, agree there too. And Enzojz, I am far from doubting your shaping skills, I remember when you first chose to begin doing it ;-)

Oh, sorry, I accidently looked at a pic of the 2001 car I think. The 2000 is indeed a bit curvy at some spots. If you save on the flat surfaces though, you should get the 6000 poly limit well. I'd aim at 7500 personally, but it's really just personal choice...

lod_0 shouldnt really matter as, depending on settings, only 1 or 2 lod_0 are shown at once. so even if lod_0 has 20,000 if lod_1 and lod_2 have 3000-6000 it would be fine
