Hendrix was the best, yngwie is up there ish, but as much of london had spray painted in the 70s 'Clapton is God' :)

I think Clapton is overrated, but he is @#$%& good. :)
Just my opinion, of course.

1. Hendrix
2. Tom Morello (not the 'best' but his playing excites me. He is the sole reason i began playing)
3. Frank Zappa
4. Ali Farka Toure
5. John Lee Hooker

Others include Johnny Greenwood, BB King, George Harrison, Neil Young

This top 5 will change tomorrow, I can't decide on a definitive list :)
You'll notice I haven't chosen the most technically proficient players, but rather those guitarists who made me sit up and take notice. I'm really not interested in hearing somebody like Steve Vai play 12,000 scales in 4 seconds. Bores the @#$%& out of me.

can i add one of the worst? John Frusciante. saw him at the Slane Castle gig on tv, and for every song he played the same long drawn out single notes high on the fret board. the guitar solos sounded nothing like the ones of the recorded songs. he can have some poetic licence to improvise while playing live, but being lazy just wasn't on. he really ruined what was a good gig.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

he usually does that, simply killed Under the Bridge on Saturday Night Live ;).
But the thing is, this is our opinion on stuff, so we don't have to agree with each other :D.
You all just have to agree with me, easier ;)
