Here's what I made for someone...it's a Ralf Schumacher helmet with the Germany flag of Glock's helmet (not 100% the same)

that's a good toyota helmet indeed, a mix of ralf and timo as you said, but it also looks like Jarno's top

Which effect do you mean? The one on the flag?
Well, I just created a new layer and drew a very small black line to "cut" it into two pieces. Then I copied this layer and used the smudge brush in Paint Shop Pro to make it looking softer. After that I just created a white line - a bit wider then the black one - with a low density. That's all

Which effect do you mean? The one on the flag?

The main design was created by Maikel in 07, he made my helmet for the wgp-league. It's completely repainted and I've tried to keep it simple, even if there are things which where not that simple and you can not see them on the renders. But I'm really happy with the result
edit: btw at Maikel, the painting for the wing is much more easier than i thought

Good helmet and thanks for keeping the main design Good to see you like it enough to keep it!
And for the wing; it looked very complicated in the tutorial but as you say, it's not that bad
If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!
