A quick query r.e. disk space

Don't know if this has been answered before, or where it's been answered if so. But looking today at the file size of my GP4 folder in the C: drive, it said it is 150Gb pretty much. This contains both downloaded mod files (like cuh, csm mods etc.) & track files. My question is this. If I copied the downloaded mods to a external hard disk for example, would the mods in CSM still work considering they are 'duplicated' into the Carsets folder in GPSAVES?

Unfortunately CSM does not work if the carset folder or the tracks are on an external drive.
All my mods are stored on my NAS and I copy over the mods I want to my C drive when I want to use them.

If the carset folder in on the SSD, and the mods I've downloaded are moved to an external disk, they'd still work? I guess CSM uses the mod in the carset folder, and not the one downloaded from Mediafire or whereever?

The content needs to be in the carset folder on the SSD for it to work

So in theory, if I download, say, an F1 1999 mod, open CSM & install it, so it creates it into the GPSaves carset folder, then move the mod I had downloaded earlier, it should still work as it's in the Carset folder? (Making 100% sure before I take action and ruin things ;) )

you can't move it - otherwise it won't work

You can change the mod folder in csm.

If you want to store it on a different drive or even a network path you can also use a symlink or junction point. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work.
If you are afraid of the command line then using a tool like this is super easy

You can move the .cuh, .cmu (csm compressed mods) and .tuh (tracks) files to an external drive, these are not needed to run the mod, only to install them
