It is not DRS, but rather a purposeful "aesthetic adornment" that emulates one. ;-)

Iam thing, in the theory:
DRS its almost the same as when you try to over take a car and use slipstream. It even in F1GP was implemented.
If someone could program a key to call the sub routine of slipstream, thats sould be great! Geoff Crammond should know it:).

Mechanically, it is possible to simulate it, as for the backfire when you brake. The trick is to create a 3d rear wing closed object just below the upper_rear_wing object (opened by default) . This closed wing must be uniteselected with the rear_light_on object so that when you brake, the closed rear wing appears (drs off) and when you accelerate, the rear light is off so the closed wing disappears to show only the rear wing opened (drs on), like this...

On this example made by AugustoGibim, you can see that 2 new features are used at the same time: backfire and drs when the car brakes.

For more informations about this, you can read my tutorial about the backfire effect. This is the same method to apply for the DRS. You just need to create a 3d object for the rear wing closed to attach to the rear_light_on object:

Now, the problem is to simulate the slipstream effect by sectors because when you don't brake, drs is always open. The source code of the game has its own limits, unfortunately....

How much improvement can this physical speed make on the tail speed?
